Sunday drive (56k no way)

It was absolutley B-E-A-UTIFULL this past Sunday, so some frineds and I got together and went for a short drive through the "hill country" of Texas. Pics:

We ended up driving through Salado and stoped to have lunch. It turns out that there is a Mermaid statue in this town. Pic:

Ha, yeah, we were all making fun of him for that. That is actually his autoX car and he had just come from an event-so, no time to take the #'s off.

MSRP has been going up and up due to the dollar sucking donkey balls. The latest that I have heard is around $42k w/o options or TT&L.

Well, I have actually had a few cars before those. In order, from most recent to the one that started it all:
'00 Grand Cherokee
'01 Mazda MP3
'00 Civic
'97 Suburban
'98 Tahoe

So, yeah, I have had a few cars!!

I currently work for the family business, and have been working here for about a year and some. Before here, I had a bunch of business ventures. Fresh out of HS, I worked into owning a restuarant, which I still own a share of. After that, I managed a dock for a yacht club in Boston. While in Boston, I met the owner of trucking business who was looking to expand. So, I went into business with him and started a Southern division of his company. I grew the company from serving just MA, CT, a bit of ME and NH, to serving all of the before and TX, LA, OK, NM, MS, and AR. After that, I took a year off from working and went to a maritime academy in ME.

In between the bigger ventures, I tried to do it all. I was a Jeweler for a local diamond store (and I still do some on the side). I was a car salesman for Subaru (which I will never do again). I was a hometheater and security installer.

That's about it! Plus, I spend all of my money on my cars. The only big obligation besides cable. phone, etc, is my mortage payment. So, that helps too.

Yes, and well modified bicycle will also beat out any of these cars. We would be comparing apples to freaking donkey dung if you wish to compare any of the above cars to a civic.

The only problem is that you would have to spend sooooo much money on a civic, that you might as well just buy one of these and mod them. Plus, there is hardly any way that you could drive a Civic that is that heavily modded every day. And if you look at it that way, why not begin with one of these cars, and mod the heck out of it??

This kinda thing just anoys me a lot. As the old saying goes, "you can polish a turd, but it is still just a turd." I am not saying that a civic is a turd, but no matter what you do to it, it is still a civic.

No offense to you 55, but like I said, you cannot compare any of those cars to a civic.

You wouldnt have to spend all that much, throw a turbocharged gsr motor ~ 4 grand into a civic and it wil run 12s at about 12psi, but i agree with you, civic is still a civic, even if it can beat ferraris

So, one more business that I forgot. The rental business. I recently bought, and sold, an exotic car rental business. I had a Viper, an Elise, H2, Vette, and Mini. That business lost money like it was going out of style. Just goes to show you that not everything you do will succed.

As the great mich said (at least I hope it was him) "When a civic beats me, at least I can say that I have heated mirrors." or something like that.

but you could mod a twingo to beat out any of these cars

put the same $$ into these cars though and they have 10x more potential then the civic

I see what you are saying, but there is a lot more to a car than how fast you can go in a line. Strap a jet engine on a civic and it will beat anything on the road, does that make it a better car than a v12 vanquish?

Like my best friend's brother's Z06. He is building a 383 stroker expecting to be at about 600-700 horsies. Granted, it will be a track only car, but still, it is about the same amount of money you would have to put into a Civic to get it to the stock Z06 handling and performance levels.

Nicley put. This is the exact reason that I love my car. Does it go fast in a straight line? Sure, not the fastest, but it goes allright. But the beauty of this car is that it goes so fast in the turns.

im not trying to say that it will be nicer, but it will be faster, thats all, and as far as modding the "sports" cars go, put 5000 into a ferrari, you might get an exhaust

theres also a key word in there "track only car"

you can get a z06 or any of those cars up to impressive stats and still have enough refinement and drivability (dont forget emissions) to actually drive it daily.

Correct, but that is only because of the cams that he is putting into it. You can easily have a 600 hp Z06 that daily driven. Just all depends on what you are going for.
