Suggestions for locating M6 tires

Trying to track down a supplier of 240/45/415 size tires for an 87 M6. I've only been able to locate one online cite www.cokertire.com that carries them and they are 408 dollars each.

Tirerack has nothing. Neither do my local shops and the distributor I used to use when I was in the industry.

Anyone know of any other online shops that would carry these apparently hard to find tires?

Coker is your best bet for vintage hard to find tires

Why are you looking for the stock tires though?

I haven't found any other tires that will fit the wheels. And it will probably be a hassle (and more expensive) to replace the wheels and tires.

Nothing else will fit the wheels, check the size again, they are metric wheels.

Do you know the model of the tire? I can see if I can get them at work.

M6 has metric tires also?

I know the 635 guys dump their stock wheels since the TRX tires are junk and pricey to replace. Hell i still have mine just sitting in storage

Owners are always trying to dump their tires so check
www.bigcoupe.com or http://bimmer.roadfly.com/bmw/forums/e24/

Not much tire left though so nevermind

I'm not sure if the metric wheels came with the car or were added later, but yeah, they are the metric ones. Thanks for the links to the forums. I'll poke around there to see if I can find anything without having to get new ones.

Anyone know ideally how long they usually last? This is a second car/work in progress so it isn't driven very much. Not more than a few thousand miles a year.

How dare you ask this question and not post pics of your car?

Because of that, I refuse to answer your question.

Actually, I don't really know.... but I just wanted to see another vintage 6-series

Finding TRX tires is gonna be a very difficult thing to do, as you have discovered.

Shame the factory wheels were metric.

If it were me, I'd find a set of used ones in good condition from rennlist or bimmerforums, mount them to the stock wheels, put those wheels and tires into storage, and buy a new set of something else and use those day to day.

Sticking with the stock wheels and TRX's (which weren't great tires to begin with) will only get harder and harder.

At first I couldn't figure out what the hell the '4' was doing in front of the 15. Took me a little while to realize that they weren't US. Only seen one other set of metric wheels in 7 years.

I think you'd be better off having custom M6 knockoffs made for you that are US sized and buying tires for that than spending $1600 on tires

j/k obviously.

Probably from the early '80s Mustang GT or SVOs, which also used the Michelin TRX, in 390 size?

The Mustang owners often also switched their wheels/tires for standard sizes (and better hi-po tires).
