Suggest a new car

Looking to get a manual transmission sedan. Budget is 30K max.

Something that's fun to drive. By that I mean a bit sporty.

How'd I miss that?

Yes, snow capable. FWD or AWD.

Actually, those are the only requirements I can think of.

I guess I could include reliable, but most new vehicles these days seem to be.

My advice, don't go new.

Get a used car and your choices are far greater.

I'm an Audi whore ... You could get a 2008 Audi A4 S-Line 6MT Quattro for less than $30k ... Maybe even certified.

Or a 2008 BMW 335xi 6MT is an alternative.

I think new limits your choices

You could go RWD, I have driven my Genesis every day this winter (with the exception of one because I was away), and it's snowed 65" this winter. All it required is a snow tire and you'll be all set, with that said look into a G25 sedan brand new or a TSX.

*edit* G25 is a 7spd manual, my mistake, however you get the idea.

I wouldn't consider new.

BMW 3 or 5
Audi A4
You could pick up a nice Legacy GT SpecB (2008+ would be my preference) for ~ 20K and make it into a hell of a capable vehicle with the rest of the $$.

I think him wanting a sedan limits his options as it severly shortens the list of new cars priced under $30K.

a sedan under 30k, TSX? Still gets good reviews.

Agree with Matt. The thing with Subaru is the AWD is symmetrical, and not a 90/10 situation where power is only distributed when needed.

That being said, the SpecB version of the LGT is a 45/55 split for a more sporty feel, Torsen LSD in the rear, Bilstein inverted strut setup for the suspension, and stock 18 inch wheels (the last two lower the car a touch).

Also, a used CTS with a V6 AWD might be @ $30K. 300 HP plus.

Not to mention the additional aluminum suspension bits (control arms) and STi 6MT.

Used wrx sti that was just a daily, or an Evo IMO, both are durable cars try to find one that hasn't been modded because I checked auto trader and alot of people that bought them seem to be getting rid of them for econo boxes

Update

First off, thanks to everyone for all the suggestions and even though I didn't take them, I did consider a lot of them.

I ended up getting a new 2011 sonata. Since my wife doesn't drive stick, I ended up getting an auto trans.

The car is beautiful to look at and the drive is decent too. Even though it's a turbo, the mpg numbers look very good.

Here is the link with pics.

What do you guys think of the 2008 Audi A4's? I was surprised at how cheap they are now. I've been doing research and can't find anything wrong with the model. Why are they so cheap compared to bmw and benz's of the same year/class?

Basically, I need an awd vehicle because I'm "essential personnel" at my new job.

They sold a shitload of them on lease deals. Unless you're looking for a S-Line you should be able to find a 2008 A4 for a good deal.
