I don't have it yet - will take delivery tomorrow evening, but paperwork is done!
Nutshell - I love it. More to come, but a couple of friends are on their way over.

I think if we were to end up with a Forester, the one thing we would change (not suggesting you do) would be the grille. It kills me -- Dan, not so much....reminds me so much of Chrysler for some reason and it does absolutely nothing for me.
This is the sport grille and I like it so much more.

It definitely calls the Chrysler to mind, now that you mention it, but I don't mind it. Which is good - I've done my economy-stimulating for the month!

Tommy, I don't remember which chassis he said it used to be built on, but they switched it entirely, and it's now substantially larger. Since I don't know much about the 2008, I couldn't say home much larger. I can say the turn radius (especially compared to herding around my TSX) is absurdly good, despite the increased size. And, to me, it doesn't feel too large at all. I don't have to work to step up into it, but it definitely sits a bit higher than my car, and has decent ground clearance.
There are links to downloadable brochures from each year of every model dating back to 2005 if you want to check them out.

Yup, Motor Trend actually named it the 2009 SUV of the year. I actually never thought I'd own an SUV, as I feel like I do enough environmental damage driving F350's at work all day. But, it's relatively smallish for it's class, and has good gas mileage, & car-like handling. It's just a step larger than the Outback, and probably more useful for my purposes. I dig it.

Congrats on your new Subie!! I have a non turbo 06 Imperza Outback Sport SE and love it. The Boxer engine is louder than an Acura engine but it gives plenty of power. Subie are reliable and should last 200K. One thing is that the RE-92 tires that come with the Subie suck, please get some better tires if you have to drive in winter conditions. Have fun with the new car!!

RE-92 have horrible traction on snow and ice. They are ok tires for dry and wet conditions. They will be fine for spring, summer, and fall driving. I recommend having a spare set of wheels and tires for winter driving. I usually do research for tires on Tirerack. I also get a lot of my info from the many subie forums.
