Subaru WRX for lunch!

So there I am just cruising down a highway and I saw this WRX (not the STI) on my rear view mirror hunting me down, from light to light, he was positioning himself so he can get next to me for the battle finally because he got impatient, he got right behind me and I said ok I gess I'm tired of you so I turn the A/C off left the VSA "on" and I proceeded to take off when the light turned green. I know, you people are saying, wait a minute, to be fair you have to be side by side right? Well,so there was no crying on his part I hold back and let him get next to me, now remember that he have some momentum and never waited for me (little bastard), so as soon as he was next to me and passing me I hit it hard.
Now I'm running in SS too by the way; so I red lined in second and he was about half a car ahead, when I shifted to 3rd my TLS jumped like a cheetah and got next to him long enough to wave and say good bye, the look in his face was memorable, I can read him mind like what the h..., after that I never saw him again, and the best part,he was riding with a girl. Guess he have some explaining to do later.
Long live the TL-S.

Wow! That's awesome! At the same time I lost to a GTI VR6 the other day Go figure... I'm sure somewhere in a "VW forum" there's a guy telling his story about beating a TL-S

No I don't have any mods, just a K&N filter godd for a few hp but thats it for now.
Don't feel bad, more than likely he have some mod because there is no way stock to stock that he can beat you even if he has some weight advantage. Next time you'll get him unless his is moded, then you have some work to do first, pick your fights so you can win the battles.

Oh, BTW... he didn't exactly "spanked" me... he started pulling away slightly around 3rd gear....

But do you think I would've had a slight edge with a CAI?

yeah, I don't see how a stock Gti vr6 would beat a TL-S. Had some for lunch on the past. I don't have any mods, but I hardly lose. Reason why? I don't pick fights if I know that I'm going to lose. For exemple, Cobra, Camaro SS, Z ... . What I like to beat most of them all is the Maximas.

Great Job!

Somthing to remimber about certain american cars IE; ss, z28`s, They come with there goveners set at 110, Yes you can change that , but for a healthy expence. I played with a Z28 on I-75, he ate me till 110, but when his gov started, He shut down.
No I`m not condoning racing over a hundred MPH.
Reminber V-1, Don`t leave home with out it!

Not to bust your chops, but if you've got a blue TL-S, and he had a blue WRX w/ gunmetal wheels, he said he waxed your a$$!

the WRX guy didn't know how to drive! I was racing my friend's WRX and we were dead even from a roll at 60 or so and he just pulled away when I shifted into 4th in SS. I highly doubt the WRX guy knew how to drive. Me and my friend both have stock 03's btw.

Yes mine is a blue TL-S but the WRX was a silver one. I can only tell what happened there and as you can see he even cheated because he never waited for me at all, and like I said he WAS in front by about half a car until I shifted to 3rd and from that point it was over. I do know that his car is very fast too but when the contenders are very close, is the driver that counts.

You can see my mods from my sig...
I can barely keep up with my friend from about 50mph on up, but from a stop he will slaughter me...
He has a WRX w/ the lightweight, gunmetal wheels, and an upgraded exhaust and downpipe. Before he got his mods I could keep up at speed (mine's been modified for awhile) but from a stop he could still take me...
Don't kid yourself, the WRX is plain faster. Period. The guy in the silver one can't drive...

Yo Maxx96,

If you're going to make up some story about how you beat a WRX, and least take the time to make it believable. A waste of my reading time... the only thing you beat that evening was your meat. At least the guy in the WRX had a girl with him, so he won, as far that situation is concerned...

Dirk Diggler.

BTW, I'm just kidding, just wanted to give you guys a laugh...

Hey if he don't know how to drive that's his problem, then don't step up to the plate.
r10apple: You are obviously talking about an WRX that is going to be faster than mine(for now), but I was not running against that one.

Stock for stock the WRX is faster than a TL-S as well. If he was a moron driver, so be it. Just don't go hunting WRX's as 99 times out of 100, the guy won't have his hand up his girlfriend's skirt and you'll get beat. No if, ands or buts. Period. End of story...

The Rex is quicker 0-60 because of its light weight and awd. From a rolling start the tls should win from 60-155 because of its greater hp and torque at higher rpms. Especially since the Rex has a 127mph limiter on the American model.

I believe that a manual WRX is significantly faster than TL-S (5.4/14/1). The auto is a different story though. We are talking 6.6/15.2 here. TL-S can and should beat auto WRX.

Its possible to beat a wrx...My friend has one that has a couple of mods (no Cat's, etc.) we were on the freeway at about 75 mph, he passed me when i got stuck behind a slow car in the fast lane. After he passed me i down shifted and punched it...as i was catching him he tried to stay ahead but i went passed him, and he could'nt keep up.

We have raced off the line and he beats me for sure, but once higher speeds are hit he can't hang.

:toothless

He may have not thought u were racing. These are consistent below 6 second cars ONCE they dump the clutch at high RPM, similar to how u dump the clutch on a S2000.

They are QUICK lil cars, many are modded but look stock.

I don't know about you guys but if I'm running against someone fast, the last time I'm doing is looking at the guy next to me doing 100mph and waving! My @ss is paying attention to the road and cops. You describe this like it was in a movie. Even if you were running with a Civic DX you wouldn't launch the way you describe. Was his car at a stand still that you went to 3rd and just flew? I beat my friends Jetta but it's not a fly by, more like a SLOW pull away.
Sorry to shoot you down but I just find this story hard to believe.

Goldendragon576: I stated the facts, for non-believers like you I guess you'll have to wonder about everything the rest of your life, facts are facts and just because I can tell it so you can enjoy it at the same time doesn't mean that it didn't happened.
BTW, open road with everybody left behind after we took off.

Wrong. The Z28 comes with a governor set at 115 mph. Also, that's not for all Z28's. Only the ones with all-weather tires on 16" wheels. If you have the SS or the performance tires option on a Z28 (at no extra cost from the factory, replacing the all-weather rubbers), the governor is set at 164 mph. Also, the Trans Am WS6 has such a high governor rate, that you would top out from wind resistance before you hit the governor. I believe the top speed rating on a WS6 is 167 mph.

maxx96: hey, I was just givin my opinion. If you can't take what other people say, don't post. I don't wondering about anything, especially when it comes to street racing. I know facts are facts and the facts are...the WRX is FASTER then the TL-S! That's a fact! Congrats you got lucky with a bad driver.

actually golden dragon...if your gonna give your own opinon....you should atleast base it on what maxx said because his has to be closer to fact since its his story (unless he's lying but i doubt he would) ...you dont know what the factors are..it could very well be that the wrx was a auto...and then there would definetly be a chance for him to have beat him... if your not gonna congradulate him then why post... he's not looking for anyone to tell him he shouldnt have won...

just because it's his story doesn't mean it's the closest to the facts....it is a story. Not every post is going to be a congrats with a woo hoo.

Wrong, wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong...Forums are for questions, stories, opinions, computerthugs, smarta$$e$...They are for everyone. Even for those who are insensitve to others perspectives, losses--whatever.

I remember telling someone one time on here who said a fellow member deserved to die (when he actually did die) because at 16 he was street racing like a m0r0n. I thought a little self-censorship was appropriate as many of his friends and family used the board and that really wasn't called for. But even that is an opinion in the long run, you just have to risk getting flamed for what you say and risk others alienating you.

We all can question stories. H=ll, on this post I asked the question as my friend in his WRX told me someone in a TL-S "like mine" tried to roll him and he wasted it. He can. I know he can. That's why I asked in jest, but in inquisition as well. I live in the same place as 'ol Maxx96 as well. It ain't the biggest place on earth either, and in the long run if getting questioned or having your chops busted pi$$e$ you off, tough shi+...If Max comes out and blanketly says a TL-S is faster than a WRX--or anyone else on this site does--you should all flame the shi+ out of them as it simply isn't true. It's like saying an NSX is faster than a Z06--it's not. Period.

I posted once about leaving Hooters and outrunning a guy in a Ferrari. I didn't even try to race him, I just drove along quicker than he did for one reason: stupid b@st@rd couldn't find second gear for the life of him and was attempting to shift at about 4k rpms in a Ferrari! Had a temp tag and all. The car-ownership police should have shot him...Someone else posted about keeping up with a Corvette and we all busted balls telling him that the Corvette owner was stoned and driving 35mph in 6th gear. Someone else got tired of seeing some of our fellow members ridiculous racing stories and posted about waxing a Diablo.

Someone on another site busted my chops about not telling stories of outrunning other cars without proof of a vid (some of these idiots are actually racing and taking a digi-vid while doing it), so I took a camera and took a picture (and scanned it) of me outrunning a dumptruck to prove a point: Stories are stories, and stories that become posts will get a variety of responses that the poster ought to certainly expect, and more wisely, tolerate...

That all being said, I am REALLY getting tired of seeing soooo many posts of our cars slaying cars that most of us sane and literate members know isn't possible at ALL--even after modding a car... And further, I will ALWAYS bust balls...

That just my $0.97...

Welp, you did. I did a reverse-zabiddah search on you and after looking at your picture gallery, have determined by enhanced imaging and osmosis that you live perhaps in the Julington Creek, Windsor Park or Deerwood. As we speak, I have my laptop in my car and I'm going to stalk you to no end...I'm just kidding, get the panties out of your crack...

'tard. Ain't no hatin' from us. Nuttin' but love for you brother!

Hey r10apple, maybe we can meet one of this days when you are not busy and I'm not busy. Maybe we can put together a killer
TL-S. I'm a little busy at work right now but next month I should have more time.
