STS-V vs. E55

both cars are supercharged at rated at 469hp, but the caddy has only 4.4L vs. the 5.5L of the MB

it will be thrilled to see who comes on top in overall

E55 hands down, STS-V is lacking a lot of torque compared to the AMG. I think the STS has 430tq vs the AMGs 500+

Only some shoptime at LPE would give the STS-V and edge over the E55.

STS-V is not even out yet

and it has a 6-spd auto vs. 5 spd auto for E55, even it lacks of torque, due to a smaller displacement

but both are pretty good

I'll have to wait for more reviews on the STS, it's on basically a C6 platform, it may be a good performer

I was hoping for some video or article, but this thread stinks. Both are great cars and should perform well beyond what most people need in the segment. I'm glad they upped the HP in the STS-V to match the E55 at least.

The STS-V is not out yet, orders are said to be taken around Aug. 4.

Highly doubt the STS will be quite as fast as the E55, but who gives a fuck? The STS-V is going to be extremely fast and impressive overall.

Also the E55 is a smaller car and is more expensive (MSRP on the STS-V shouldn't be any more than $75k, and that's more or less loaded).

E55 > CTS-V > STS-V

Sorry, I digress...

Hot looking supercharged CTS-V lives nearby. I'm guessing it's at ~550-600hp since a S/C usually adds 50% of the original hp as I recall, right? The Caddy is a great looking auto today, but I think its angular lines will age rapidly and the interior is "different." The MB E55 on the other hand is "classic car" material given its heritage and appearance. The earlier E55's are hot no doubt, but with the new motor it puts out scary good numbers.

Also lastly, the E55 might be faster (shit most high end sport luxury sedans are not as fast as the E55.....Maserati Quattroporte and Jag XJR for example).

I guarantee though, that the STS-V will outhandle the E55.......not one of its strong points.

The STS with a pulley and tune should be able to take the MB out.

Wouldn't it be the same with the E55?

I just figured I'd continue the pointless debate.

There are modded civics that would beat a stock STS-V.

If I could have afforded one, I would have bought an E55 over the CTS-V I got a few weeks ago. The V is nice and handles very well for it's class but the inside is waaaay behind the E55. Dollar for dollar though, the V is more than a capable machine. The Magnacharger S/C puts down an extra 140hp/90tq to the wheels. The car dynos around 340hp/330tq. Thats about 480whp/420tq. Not too bad for an extra $6k + install. That'll get ya easily in the mid to low 12's and chase down some Porsches on the track.

BTW, I'm taking the V to a racing school at Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA on August 29th. All cars welcome!

I tried out a CTS-V the other day. God damn the shifter is so light and the throws are extremely long compared to the CL-S i'm used to. But it hauls ass

Nothing like being a badge whore, what's so exclusive about AMG anymore? Benz has a fucking AMG model across the lineup.

I would buy the STS-V all day over the E55, more pimp and will be more exclusive.....not to mention handle better and has a nicer interior (everything is leather covered).

The CTS-V isn't even in the same category as an STS-V.

i like E55 interior more than STS-V interior.. everything is leather covered is not as important as the interior layout to me.

the styling of E55 (my favor is white w/blk top) is wayyyyyy better than STSV

I was thinking about that the other day. Are all AMG engines still hand built? They sure do make alot of them now.. just dont know how they keep up.

You post the worst STS-V photos possible, not even sure what color that is.........the STS-V is not going to come in that color.

My oldman had an 03 E500, there is nothing spectacular about the layout vs. the STS-V. Both interiors are intuitive, nothing royally out of place or difficult to access.

Exterior styling is subjective, I like the STS-V better.......its different.

The W211's are a dime a dozen on the road.

With the sport package optional on the standard Emodels, there is really nothing exclusive looking about the E55 anymore.

to the nth degree. Outside of the quad exhaust, E350 thru E55 look effictively identical.

In general, I like direction Cadillac has gone with their designs, no matter what Jeremy Clarkson says (ref: 'only had a ruler' comment on Top Gear CTS-V Twit!).
