Friday Night

So, I was in chicago, in dohedy road with my whip (06 NBP TL) Maybe some of you chicagans know where im talkin about, if so make some comments. and this was friday night, and I am pullin up to a road that interesects with dohedy, and theres about 100-200 cars comming straight at me and flshing brights, theres 30-50 cops comming the other way pulling everyone over n ticketing them. Theres 2 ways to get out, one way is barracaded by cops, and the other is one obstacle (train tracks) and there was a stopped train, so everyone was driving around in circles till the train passed, and remember atleast one hundred cars bottlenecked in a small area, everyone gets out of there car and starts running for the other side of the train tracks, MANY COPS on the other side of the train tracks waiting for us. The train then passes after about 10-15 minutes, and EVERYONE FLYES PAST THEM, no one stops to wait for the cops to pull them over, it was a marrannathan lol, and i flue past em with about 60 cars, and it was pullover central on "torrence avenue," I was one of few id consider that didnt get caught, my friends did.

They all go backup there later that night, around 2-3 AM and there is a quarrel between some people and a person is shot 11 times to his death. This is over probably some type of shit talking, or someone not payin up the for the race.

Saturday Night

Now its saturday night, and I go up there for 15 minutes, and a cop comes STRAIGHT for me and busts me, gives me a long speech on how bad street racing it, which i took seriously, and had soon after left, but sad enough, i was the only one stopped out of probably 50 cars. Karma , but, i drove the TL and got alotta badass comments.

if u kno anywhere else to race, lol let me know im lookin 4 more spots, i dont wanna DIE!!!!

If you weren't breaking the law, there was no need to fly by anyone. Just tell em you were on your way to a friends house, or a local bar around there. You're in a stock TL, so it's not like you'd be the usual target.

actually this is the third story ive heard of a huge group of modified cars being chased off by 40+ cop cars in the chicagoland area...

Sadly i have met vette owners who are in their late 30s who go to dohedy road to race. Dont know too many that go there though.

What i dont get is why go back after hearing about a guy getting shot 11 times? Also why would you go back a day after the cops were there?

Why even go to dohedy road? Its just as far as going to the local drag strips.

 

I hope the police do this to your car for racing.

I didn't hear anything about a dude being shot 11 times this weekend when I was in Chicago... 100 racers being busted...thats kinda big news if you ask me.

 

for starters, im 18 years old.

I wasn't going there to race, I was going there to meetup friends and maybe stay n watch some races.

This wasn't in chicago, this was in hammond, I wasn't thinkin when I posted chicago, this race spot is off of torrence, and torrence intersects with stony island (very close to the south side).

and a few more stories to get u guys goin that the cops had told me are..

A young man was beaten to death and had his car stollen. A young women was crushed by a street racing car during a race.

 

I went to purdue-calumet for a semester, my dad lived in Dyer, IN for like 20 years... I know where it is. Still, 100-200 cars being busted and someone getting shot woulda made the news.

 

I've checked the local newspaper today, NWitimes.com, I found absolutley nothing posted about it yet. I will check on monday.

 

is that anywhere near Strats? a guy i work with with a heavily modified evo iv is always going there and has told me of two separate occasions of fast and furious like getaways down there, same place? i know its on north avenue in villa park if that helps...

going to a street race area is dumb. They're doing something illegal, and you should either be a good citizen and report it, or leave ;-) You do the crime, you deserve to be stopped and ticketed. Too bad they can't ticket you for when you flew by and almost hit that pedestrian that was about to cross the street (hey, you were racing down the street and trying to elude the police, so who knows, maybe you had a close call)

I'm sure everyone here would only condone racing at the drag strip

At least will all the crimes happening there, it'll reduce the stupid population in your area ;-P

Been there long ago but cant remember where exactly it is.

Its more of a car meet than a place to race though.

People are killed @ all illegal street racing spots all over the city, this isnt something new. gang relations, people not paying up, and such, things like that is what causes these things and they are everywhere, but the main basis for the people commin to these places to watch and not make waves, then that is what is pertaining to my argument.

 

Your statement is apples and oranges. Sure someone could have done underage drinking or smoked pot, but if the person is responsible about it, the risk of harming someone is far less than that of street racing. You could pretend to say you're being responsible while street racing, but there are so many factors involved that could go wrong.

I think it's safe to assume that every single member here have done something considered illegal at some point. I for one exceed the speed limit almost daily. But I'm not street racing. I do 65 in a 55. And when I got pulled over the last time for speeding, I took the ticket, went home, and paid it. I didn't bitch about it like you are doing.

If you get caught doing something illegal, then be a man and deal with it. If being responsible is being boring to you then you need to grow the fuck up.

I will re-ask the question, if some guy was "shot dead" without being in the news, then why did you go back to that spot? It serves you right getting pegged by a cop, for going back to the same spot looking for more races. I don't mind street racing if it's done in a closed or seperated area, but your thing just sounds dangerous and irresponsible. The way you tell the story to begin with is u just happened upon this, but then all the sudden you talk about how u go back there all the time. If you're only 18 you have a lot to live for still, and I'd suggest going somewhere else that doesn't involve the risk of death or jail time.
