Strategic Vision survey measuring which vehicle brand provides the best value.

I hope this isn't a repost. I didn't see anything in the new threads.

I just saw on yahoos homepage "Buyers rate Hyundai as high-quality" which I thought was BS so I click on it.
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...iashighquality

In the article was another link:
(Related chart: 2004 Total Value Award Winners by category)

It says:
Mid-size car Hyundai XG 350 (tie) 779
Acura TSX 778

That's freaking BS the TSX in the same category with a POS Hyundai. The tsx is normally considered a near-luxury. It's nice to see the TSX on the list but not to tie with hyundai.

Near-luxury car Mercedes C-Class Sedan 798
Since when is Mercedes a good value????

The only thing I really agree with is "Best corporation American Honda 750"

What is Strategic Vision anyways? They've popped up from nowhere lately and starting telling weird things about cars. I mean, what are they looking for? Attention? Credibility?

Way to go!

Forget 100k miles...just 20k miles would be sufficient.

Strategic Vision, an automotive consulting firm, asked 74,000 owners to rate the overall value of their new cars and trucks based on price paid, affordability, expected reliability and resale value.

Which is a nice way of saying that if it's cheap, you don't expect much, and you don't get much, then it's a better value than something that is expensive, makes you expect the world, and doesn't quite deliver...

Same reason Southwest is consistently rated as the "best domestic airline." They consistently deliver exactly what you expect. American transcontinental first class is surely a lot more pleasant, but it's also 20x more expensive and often fails to deliver on some of the basics (like getting you there on time).

Standard business school definition: "Value = Giving the customer what they expect, for the price they expect to pay."

Sorry but that is a fact. Both offer good power, nice interiors, FWD and cost the same. And Hyundai's quality is through the ROOF now.
30-40k is near luxury. Under 30k? Not sure what that is called..
