pretty much explains the 1/4 mile times we've seen!
hawt, considering the g35 coupe(298horese 6mt) puts down 245 to the wheels. Nissan definitely overrates its engines. good to see lexus underrating their's.

257 hp at the wheels
That's 16% drivetrain loss. It's not underrated. Underrated would be like if it came out to 5%, like on the Ford GT, which is considered mechanically impossible, pretty much.
Regardless, it's a decent figure. It's not disappointing, but it's nothing that we should be surprised by, either.

Thus, it just means they built an efficient automatic transmission.

In all fairness to the G35, its 298hp may be overrated but it still able to post a 14.4sec ET in its slowest iteration (G35X..which only comes 5AT). That said, it looks like the IS350 is clearly the fastest Japanese-make sedan to ever reach American shores. Toyota definitely took the gloves off with the 2GR-FSE motor.
Sidenote: I'm pretty eager to see the performance of the 2007 Toyota Camry V6 with its 268hp version of this motor.

Wow...that IS is making great power! Very strong torque, too. My G coupe, also an auto, put nothing down like that. Even modded so far, it's still almost 20hp and 20tq short of that Lexus...
That being said, that dyno is a bit higher than I have seen. Most are in the 245hp/225tq SAE corrected range...
I wish I had had time to get my headers in as soon as possible after seeing this!

Besides, no NOS. I'm doing the headers, in a month or two an exhaust (should be close to 250hp/240tq, some new, sticky tires and then I'll leave it until my bonus next Christmas and go FI. The Vortech s/c kit will put down close to 400hp to the wheels with my other mods and it will be with little effort. Not bad for another $7k and all in the sleeper package...

That dyno does seem a bit high. My G (lightly modded) has put down anywhere from 241-255 (the 255 was ona dynojet). Anyway, it's a nice dyno and they are quick. I've seen a couple high 13 1/4 miles from them already.
