Steven, there's something horribly wrong with your camera. You need to call Canon and tell them that a squinty-eyed 3G TL keeps showing up in your pictures!

its not as bad though since many shots its only a Vette in there, no TL trying to push dookie out....

its surprising that I didnt take a single solo shot of my car hahaha....time to do more mods

Thanks for the love though bruhhh

Anil, great set. And take your dumb photos off of private, I was trying to re-link my personal favorite.

2 criticisms if you're open.
Pay attention to your shadows in reference to lighting and where you position one subject to another.

(and I need to take my own advice here)
Be choosy about your photos that do it for you...multiple photos from almost the same angle and effects will cause you/most people to scan right over them since you don't feel like you're missing something. Be choosy with which one from front right quarter, or side, etc...is your favorite and stick with that. Try and switch up your effects...go B&W OR color, but don't post both.

Just my own thoughts...

Photos are not private...they are visible to friends and family (flickr setting) and I am sure you are friends with me on flickr...but I will check the settings again....

both suggestions are great Jeremy....it sure was a tough time to shoot with the sun hiding behind clouds one moment and "bam, in yo face" the next...I did catch my shadow and reflection couple times and tried to change the angle but those pics didnt really come out how I wanted....

since its Steven's car, I posted both just in case he wants to download the pics, he has the option of picking and choosing....

but thanks...i need more tips...both yours and Tyler pics come out great...John (ebelp) and others post fantastic pics but its very rare they come out from under that rock....

I agree with Jeremy. Just be cautious of shadows, like the rear 3/4 view where Steven's car is making a huge shadow on yours. Maybe a front 3/4 angle would have worked better for that photo.

Also...and I hate to sound like this...and I know you're friends...but I think the Vette deserves the spotlight just a tad more. :grittedteethemoji: I don't mind the pics of your car in there but it is Steven's thread after all, should have some more, not all...pics of his car by itself. Hope I wasn't too brash with that.

totally agreed, and I hate to sound like this, but I dont think you saw the pics from the front quarter from the same side, just couple pics up....

in the rear quarter pic, I was trying to capture the Sprint Clock Tower...and as I took the shot, I was telling Steven of the shadow but well, I thought it made for a good pic....but point noted....I have been seeing my reflection in some pix and trying to take them in a manner than I am not seen but without much luck....like the pic of the doorsill, I can see my reflection there as well....tried changing the angle but was not able to get the same effect like I wanted....

and there is not a single solo shot of my car in this set....yet many shots of Steven's and again I hate to sound like this but if that were the case, it should come from Steven, dont you think ?

Hey, take it all with a grain of salt...you do great work all by yourself.

Check the settings on the focus for him, Anil...even with all my pictures I had accidentally set mine to a single focal point and it sucked.

Sloth is pissy because I didnt mention his name in "you guys take great pics"....

my mistake Sloth your pics are awesome as well

Jeremy, I did check...I also checked on the lens to make sure that was set in auto...I remember Austin mentioning to check the focus on the viewfinder and that was fine as well....

the camera was taking good pics with the 10-22 lens that he has but it was taking blurry pics with the other lens (which kinda made me believe that there was a problem with that other lens - forgot the zoom specs on that one)

Know something crazy...my camera (especially with the UV filter on) will pick up the sun's glare and actually focus on that glare spot. I get home and all my pictures suck.
The end.

Guys, I appreciate all the input. I think I've found my "good lens". I've exclusively been using a Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens. The Sigma 28-300mm lens seems to be the culprit.

And....just like all you guys....Anil is my brother. I enjoy sharing the picture frame with him and his TL. Anil is on a better photo shooting curve than me. These pictures are better because of the Canon 10-22mm lens, I think. I just need to try and get better angles/sunlight pictures. Practice, practice........

Maybe all you boys should come to Kansas City and we'll do a Stingray shoot plus a Stingray/TL shoot.....kind of like a big family shoot!

I didn't mind the squinty lens dust in every picture...not one bit.

Steven, awesome, man...only problem with shooting 10-22 is that's a pretty wide angle lens right off the bat. I'm sure it's a faster shutter though, hence sharper. I'd highly recommend you get yourself a prime lens...they're cheap.

50MM F1.8 will make you some pictures that will blow you away...right out of the box.
and only about $100.

Layman's instruction

Program mode...do ISO100 if sunny and go up from there if the light is getting low...lowest F stop will give you that blurry background too.

Steven, what lens did you use in the initial wedding ceremony? Those pics were CRISP !!!

Jeremy, Tyler (one nut) was not able to make it to the first ceremony of the wedding, so I requested Steven to take the pics and they were AWESOME !!! Simple amazing....I wish I could show you those pics (they are some of the best I have seen and also there was no editing in those) but not sure where the full set went....Steven passed the memory card to Tyler to add to the Wedding pics and not sure what happened after that....SUCKS! I know but well, cant change that fact so I made my peace with it...

EDIT: point of saying that was, Steven is a great photographer....he was also taking some awesome shots in FULL MANUAL mode with my Nikon...I wish we had the same company base so we could swap lens and pin point where the issue is coming from....

Also from talking to Tyler (penguie), he mentioned a 35mm prime would trump a 50mm, I tend to agree since in my 18-55 lens, most of the shots are between 18-35mm, very rare that I shoot at 50mm, for at least for me a 35mm would be perfect....either way, you definitely cant go wrong....

I give full props to:
Sean Veggiemonster...he was the first to give me pointers on angles etc
John Ebelp...he shot my car and gave me the tips to switch to program mode
Austin Dead Dreams...he showed me what not to do to get good shots

Nikon FTMFW...all my car bros have Nikon and I don't have much of a backbone so I swapped from Canon to that.

In all seriousness though,
when I bought the 50MM is when you saw me get decent with this hobby overnight. It was incredible...it was the first time I took shots and when I reviewed on my computer I was blown away. Seriously...fixed aperture super fast glass...that's the ticket and the 50 is the cheapest.

I've been shooting in Program mode a lot now. Maybe that, along with the 10-22mm lens has made a big difference!

Speaking of which, do you still use that forever black dye stuff?
