I do see a lot of nice cars that were confiscated used as unmarked cruisers by me.

I remember there was a thread a little while back about an undercover Z06 that was being used to bust up street racing.

 

I've seen that one around. It's stationed about a mile from my house.


Here's the new one they have. My town obviously gives too much money to the police departments.

 

Oh, they also have, or at least used to have, a Lotus Esprit TT. I can't find a picture of it right now, though. They seem to only use it for charity events and shows, etc. I've never seen it on patrol.

FWIW,...Before it was 'fashionable' for police to have hi-performance cars, 25+ years ago Beverly Hills PD had a 'plain wrap' 5.0 Mustang and Z28 roaming the city. What I found amusing is that on school days, they would patrol around Beverly Hills High School to discourage the students from speeding away in their Bimmers and Porsches when classes let out.

I saw a new Mustang GT cop car today, in Stayton Oregon.

 

seems like most of the Police Depts around here are going with Impalas. I talked to the police chief of the town I work in. they just ordered a new Impala to replace their old crown vic. He said they(the police dept) is pissed at Ford because I guess produced the Crown Vic with either poor design or faulty fuel tank straps so when in a rear end accident(for example: when they have a motorist stopped they get plowed into by a stupid dude who isn't paying attention) the fuel tank likely to drop and blow up. I guess he called both the local Ford dealership and Ford Motor Corp they basically in a round about way "tough crap deal with it." so the polic chief said "fine if they don't give a damn about the customer anymore than that the hell with them we'll go with Chevy or Dodge."

although there's a another Police dept to the west they have a Dakota 4 door 4x4 with a V-8. a sheriff dept to the north has a TON of Intrepid 3.5s. they're about due to replace them because the Intrepids have been out of production for a good 3-4 years now. they'll probably go with the new Charger seems like the dept like Dodge. I hate the looks of the new Charger in a cop car. as far as looks I like the Impala the best. the crown vic just looks "bloated" to me.

 

I forgot to tell you Shelby co has a tricked out Honda Odyseey for their D.A.R.E. it has a light bar everything. it's the 99-04 body style. black with yellow lettering.
everytime i see it i start singing. "Bad soccer mom, bad soccer mom, what cha gonna do what gonna do when when the Odyseey rolls up on you."
