For me it was easy, my dad had a 68 Jaguar XKE roadster I6 british racing green. When he killed it by using it as a daily driver in New Jersey, it was replaced by a 68 MGB also british racing green. They both had influence on me. My dad's friend being a saleman at Porsche coming by in a different demo every month didn't hurt either.

I know there are a lot of enthusiasts on this board, and I'm curious to hear what you would choose as that one special car that got you interested in automobiles. What was it? Where did you see it? What effect did it have on you? Did you ever eventually obtain one? Just thought it might be an interesting topic.

It's a modded 1975 Paykan Javanan. For those not familiar with the name Paykan (non-Iranians I guess!), the car was originally designed by the British carmaker Hillman and was called "Arrow". Paykan in Persian means arrow.
Here's the back:

1986 Midnight red mazda rx-7, MotorTrend import car of the year. Picked up a 7 y/o used one when i was a junior in college for 5K. Learned to drive stick on the hills of San Fran and fell in love with the rotary engine although gas mileage was a bitch.

Yep, 69 Charger. My favorite car of all times. And sadly, I never owned one to this day

Not so much a single car, but I remember my first Motor Trend, and I think thats what got me hooked. It was the 1995 Truck of the Year issue with the S-10 Blazer on the front. (its not the Blazer that got me hooked lol).

Believe it or not, I think that lime green was a stock color that year.

I think I may have answered this already but it was the 1986 Peugeot 205 GTi.
I love that car. I would love to have one.
Then my step-dad brought home a 1983 323i (in the UK) and that was a fantastic car.
The '84 533i he had is the reason I still lust after late 80s 5ers and 6ers today.

Air cooled VW's. It all started with my stepdads '72 Beetle that he rebuilt for my mom to drive when I was about 7 or 8 years old. Other than that, I was always around the garage with him, my dad, my uncle, my grandfather, etc.. I always wanted a part of the action. I haven't quit yet. Hell, I'm selling them now.

I was always into cars. Had Hot Wheels and Sizzlers, then went to building model cars and racing slot cars. I got hooked when I saw a Car & Driver mag (late 70's) with a 911 Turbo and a bike on the cover (they did a comparison). I've always wanted a 78 911 Turbo since then.

1993 Mazda RX-7 FD3. My friend in college had one and we broke that thing down over and over again. I never got tired of working on that car even in the dead of winter in the middle of the school parking lot.
Converted to single turbo (among many many other engine mods), 3" turbo back exhaust, coilovers, tastefully done exterior. It sounded like a damn chainsaw at idle...this is when i truly became passionate about cars.
Oh yeah, and I will own one eventually

Ferrari F40 (dad gave me a snap together die cast model and i played with it forever after we built it.. still have it today)
And finally my mom's 95 z28 camaro.. black on black with t-tops. I was already into cars but the sound of the exhaust on this one pushed me over the edge![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

my dad had a 67 xke I6 and my mom had a 72 xke cab. v12. i used to sit in the garage and watch my dad work on them for hours. he could never get the carbs tuned perfectly though. riding in the 67 is still my most favorite memory from childhood.
then hurricane kate came through and a pine tree fell on his garage and crushed both of them.
my mom bought him and xke a 4 years ago for his birthday. that was the second time i have ever seen him cry in my entire life.
