Some pics of the M5...

and my newest acquisition a 2001 Navigator. But first I'll start with the good stuff. Yes my interior is a little dirty And yes I know the pictures suck but whatever.

The Beast, a 2000 M5. Alpine White with a Black sport interior and full leather interior. Probably one of less than a handful optioned like that.

The outside

The inside

Completely leather door panels

look at that stiching

+

=

Full leather dash

Alcantara where the leather leaves off

sports seats

A little ostrich

even the sun visors aren't left out

The dumbest cup holder ever

Just in case you forget what kind of car it is between the nano second you see the door sill to the floor mat

Where the magic happens

The land yacht I just picked up. 2001 Navigator, nothing really special.

The children spending some quality time together

That car needs about $1000 in professional detailing. Stat.

Nice car but gotta agree, that interior needs a serious serious detail.

How's the swirl situation?

In Europe fewer people give a damn about cupholders that'll fit extra-extra-large cups. The ability to cruise in comfort and control at 90+ mph on the highway is more important

The cup holders were added for us fat, lazy Americans who would rather do almost anything else in a car but drive...

BTW, sweet M5

Technically its full leather. Extended leather didn't have it on the dash for the E39s, only the door panels. I still need to find out a little more about the options for this year. Some say my car wasn't possible, others say it was an option, just most didn't get it. Either way it makes the interior look so much better.

E39 M5s came with everything offered for that model year except for a handful of options. Your options were rear sunshades, split folding rear seats, park distance sensors, rear spoiler delete and sport or luxury interiors.

Not bad at all. Some minor swirling.

To all the comments about the cleanliness, the car will be detailed this spring. I just need to find someone around me to do it. I don't have the patience or skill to give the car the kind of detail it needs.

Its not as bad as you think. Don't get me wrong, its certainly not for the faint of heart. If your used to Japanese reliability, a higher mileage german car will be quite a shock. Like has been said, I was/am a BMW tech so that helps when it comes to maintaining the car. It also helps to not buy every part from BMW. Some stuff you have to as they are the only one who sells certain parts, but a lot of stuff you can buy from Bosch, Sachs, or countless other companies who make the stuff for BMW so your getting the exact same part for sometimes half the cost.

^^ You don't think German's take road trips? Of course they do... but 95% of the time when people are driving, they're commuting and not driving 12 hours over a thousand miles. When driving the average commuting distances, they drive and don't mess with 50 other things.

Installing 7 cup holders in a sedan for the one road trip a year the average American family takes is our thing. The Europeans laugh at the cup holder...

I'll put it in my will to contact you when I pass. Thats if I don't get buried in it. I wanted a white on Black with sport interior M5 so bad and figured it was gonna take forever to find what I wanted. Within 2 weeks of looking I found this car in TX and bought it immediately. Finding a car exactly like this is so rare its not funny. I thought I was gonna be chasing a unicorn.

Yea, it was a 2001 530 that had a blown motor. I didn't wind up doing anything to it unfortunately. I actually sold it to a co worker when I couldn't keep storing it. Made a few bucks on the deal to which was nice. He replaced the engine and now uses it.

Europeans think the cup holder is anything but a necessity. They'd rather not be distracted with other things.... also quite a few of them prefer to drive nothing but manuals, even in their big luxury cars.

I can't even count how many times I've seen someone driving erratically then passing them up to see them looking down at a cell phone, or doing their make-up, or turning to the side to talk to a passenger. I'm not going to say "go ahead, delete cupholders from cars" since I use them myself, but...

Well I just don't see how it makes us "fat and lazy" to want to have a place to put a drink while driving? Besides, nobody said anything about 7 cupholders. Two is fine, but whatever it is that BMW tries to pass off as cupholders are obviously inadequate and poorly designed.

Well either way, take care of that leather so the summer heat doesnt ruin it! Already looks dry.

A nice matched set. Arguably representative of what regional manufacturers do best: A fine European sedan and a large American truck.
