Is it so wrong to want to buy a tC?

scion tC...carbon grey...MT...only option would be ipod connectivity
it would be my DD while working on the project car
dirt cheap, love the interior (especially the cloth material), the panoramic roof, good sound components, and people have said they've averaged 30 mpg
just wondering you all's opinions, experiences, stigmas, etc..

And you wont be directly linked to the poser image the Scion TC comes with
Although, Mazdas3's are somewhat girly...so pick your poison.

My ex has a tc. I always loved to drive it. If you take a look at how cheap they are, along with how much fun they are to drive, you have a hard combo to beat.
I would say pick one up

I'd rather get the mazda3 5door over the tC or a base model civic or even a fit.
The fit is a fun little car to drive. doesn't have a lot of power, but it is just a daily driver. And you can do a K20 swap on it!

The tC was not even remotely impressive from a driving perspective. Materials were good, equipment was good, but it drove like a Toyota, which is to say the steering was too light and uncommunicative. The Mazda3 is a real winner in all ways. I would definitely take a Mazda3 over the tC, without question.
Personally, I'd take a Mazda3 over a TC as well, but there's nothing wrong with liking them. It's definitely the nicest looking vehicle in the Scion lineup. It's your choice, so get whatever car you want.
^^wasn't there a rumor that they couldn't name it xC because of Volvo, so they named it tC in honor of the Celica? Either way its a joke compared to all the Celicas that came before it, but as a daily driver its good. Never drove it but the panoramic roof is cool, and theres a LOT of room (relative to the car's size) in the backseat/trunk.
Pretty girly indeed though

yea GTI ftw. but it's also more expensive, isn't it?
i like the tC a lot. i'm always staring at them whenever i see them on the road.
it's got a :ghey: stigma to it, but i really don't care. i think it's a nice looking car, and it's fun to drive for what it's worth.
i thought this board hated the tC?
anyways, i don't think it's that cheap. last time i saw, it was around 17-18k?

yup. volvo wouldn't allow toyota to take the xc name. tc pretty much replaced the celica, but not exactly replaced. The tC came out on the last year of the celica, but toyota didn't have a need for a front wheel drive sporty coupe, so they just kept the tc in the scion division for the youngsters.
although toyota is thinking of bringing back a sporty coupe under the toyota name pretty soon. it's definitely a 4-banger, but they're also trying to keep it very lightweight and rear wheel drive. the ae86 craze part two, basicly.

my only problem with the tc was the interior audio controls and cheap moon roof cover thing on the inside. the trunk space is also very small compared to the mazda 3 but things like those are your preference for your DD

have none of you been inside a TC? Its one of the worst cars ive ever been in. The materials and fit and finish is bargain bin at best. And they think they can distract you with a nice "leather" wrapped steering wheel, garbage. Get a GTi, or hell even a rabbit. The rabbtis have nicer materials/fit and finish then the TC. If all else fails, get a mazda3. Anything in its class>tc....
And they finally show up.
I haven't looked at the inside of a Mazda3, but for some reason I'm not all that attracted to their exteriors. The tC on the other hand, look pretty good. Again, can't say for the interior .. I'd say you probably can't go wrong with anything the tC is classed with, although it was quite a squeeze for a fatass like me to fit inside a Civic ..
