The Mercedes undertrays were thin metal panels. You'd think they'd have the forethought to put an access panel for the oil drain plug rather than having to remove both undertrays to get to it.

in an Audi you don't change oil, you just keep adding it. a quart every 1000 miles is normal to burn so every 7000 miles, you'll have 7 new quarts anyway. #math

Your wife knows what's up...but also don't ever let her call it a NOT shitbox. We love shitboxes.
Also, yes I'm old and old school but a physical dipstick was one of the first things I ordered for both of mine.

live, laugh, shitbox

S4 has more of the screws but is missing the soft section over the DSG...
I just refuse to pay good money for that particular piece.

Those undertrays are sold for aero and noise reduction but they are, in fact, to catch oil leaks.

Unless the lube fools either forget, or double washer, your Honda. Then you get some Exxon Valdez sized spots.

Any plan in getting those OEM + wheels from the current Gen RS6/7?

those are pimp by OEM or even aftermarket standard...

i was shocked that Audi would offer such size for stock cars.

Wheels are on my mind .. but it's much further down the "list" haha.

First things first:

- Address quarter panel damage (In progress)
- ZF8 Transmission fluid change
- Replace battery

That'll be at least a grand right there ... solid wheel setup is around 1200-1400 for a nice set with tires.

Knowing how good you are with your hands, ZF8 fluid change and battery replacement will cost you $200 total.

I plan on doing this all myself except for the quarter panel repair - FCP Euro has the OEM trans change kit for $330 (9 quarts of VW fluid, gaskets, filter, etc), and batteries are around $200 for this car (I can program the battery via VCDS).

Rear quarter panel will be done between the $300-$500 range.

It all adds up quick but, I can't imagine the car needing much after this ... it's really well maintained and mostly all the big ticket items are done.

Naw dude...it's a big boy AGM...even at Advance/Vato/BillO'Reilly's it's $190.
Hey T...don't leave OBD11 plugged in...it kills the battery.
Are you struggling to start?

Its unplugged / has been.

First time I plugged the OBD11 it showed 11.4V .. seems like a tired battery to me.

EDIT: Little slow but nothing longer than a second. Just like the timing chains slapping the tensioners .

If I may...
on cold start BOTH of my B8.5 seem to take a bit to crank over...
I have a feeling there's a start delay to give the oil pressure a chance

and that didn't change after swapping my battery twice on the S4
Once because of that same rationale you have, then again because
I killed that battery with OBD11

11.4v and you want to swap the battery? You're being entirely too kind to this shitbox. Get her into the 9v range before worrying.

Car will have the quarter panel damage addressed on 4/8.

It won't be a full respray but, it'll be a 60-70% improvement. After removing the spray paint yesterday, it was pretty evident that the repair could have been mostly mended via PDR had they not touched it in the first place .

Lets just say, prying behind the quarter panel took place (high spots / dimples) followed by sanding ... eek. It's ugly.

I'll post pictures when complete.

I gotta say, a well optioned 2013 A6 3.0T is a phenomenal car for the money and can be had for under 15k with reasonable miles.

The Malibu gets as little financial investment as it takes to keep it on the road.
New toy has a battery included.

I'm not a bodywork guy but, I'm a better bodywork guy who did this .

6 years ago, I repaired my S2000s rocker panel (stud + stud puller + little filler and paint) .. I figured I could at least give an attempt but after uncovering it ... leaving it to the experts to make it look "decent".
