I came back from working all night and did not even realize it was here since 9:30 AM. I don't know why, but I have never been so excited for something made of plastic. I feel like a little kid again. Heck I even went out and showed it to my friends, who were just as excited.
So there you go, just had to get it off my chest

Yeah. Supposedly they ran out and were limited only to the purchases of '06s, but I happend to get one along with many other recent buyers. It's been about 6 weeks since purchase.

How do you like your GTI w/ DSG?
Post a mini review perhaps?
I got mine about a year ago. It sits next to my dvd player in the tv stand. I have an 06 GTI UG w/dsg and the huffs. I'm doing my second autocross this weekend with the car. The GTI's a blast to drive. Congrats on the GTI and the fast.

The shift speed is beyond words. You can read reviews, watch videos like Top Gear, 5th Gear, Best Motoring, and study the diagrams, but driving it makes it absolutely astonishing.
DSG incorporates 2 clutches, 2 input and output shafts, and a reverse shaft (along with a "mechatronics unit", a parking differential, and oil pump. 1-3-5 share one input while 2-4-6 get their own. R obviously is COMPLETELY seperate. While 1 shaft is engaged, the other is unloaded but ready, with either the next higher or lower gear available. The shift takes practically no time at all, and shift time depends on how open the throttle is. Normal, slow driving shifts feel like a conventional AT, while hard WOT driving shifts tend to really feel "forced" in; that is, you can FEEL the gear thud into place
.One of the best features is Launch Control. Shift into "S" mode and turn off ESP (aka VW/Audi "Traction Control"). This establishes the LC setting on the tranny. At a dead stop, letting off the brake is similar now to letting off a clutch. Only when the brake is FULLY off will the car launch. What this also does is allow for the car to rev freely to 3,000 RPM. Hold the gas, let off the brake, and witness the clutch control the car's launch
.Exhaust note and engine sound fantastic together. When being pushed a little at low RPM, you can hear a nice little "blip" or "fart" on upshifts. It sounds very very nice. Acceleration is great for a car w/ 200 HP and all the features it has. My best 0-60 is 6.16 seconds; you better believe the DSG is a reason for that. Also, I love not having to downshift to 2nd just to pass someone; there is torque everywhere.
Steering is awesome. At low speeds, it is light and nimble, while at high speeds the steering becomes very crisp and responsive. Stangg17 told me that the car is equipped standard with VW's adaptive steering. I did not even notice it!
I do have some complaints;
-Braking. The brakes are too mushy for me. I feel that VW could have included better brakes on the car.
-Tires and Suspension. The tires are a little too conservative for me. I would like some stickier tires eventually. Also, we really got jipped on the ride height. Our suspension is 0.6" higher than the Euro-spec GTIs. In pictures the difference is apparent and lowering is probably something I will invest in next.

Oh and I forgot to mention all the nice little features that come with the car. Small things, like headlamp washers, flex-blade wipers, a fantastic Multi-Function display, speed-sensing volume, iPod Adapter, MP3/6CD Radio
and the best steering wheel out there IMO.

My brother's friend has a GTI. Does the boost gauge come stock? Either way, he found out while recording boost that when the heater or A/C is on, he wouldn't get full boost.
We joked around that VW gave him a free boost controller for a while.

Reading your review made me go test drive it, which i did today, and boy was that a sweet car. Acceleration was amazing and i loved the noise it made. I remember accelerating up onto the freeway and hitting 90 without even realizing it. For its size that car is quiet stable. Didn't get to test its handling too much, but taking the clover leaf onto the freeway it did admirably.
now i want one.....

To the OP: Congrats on getting your fast. My dad's came in the mail a couple months back. It's pretty cool, esp. since it comes with different tails that you can interchange. I remember in my thread you said that you were hopefull going to get a GTI, glad you were able to get one, and that you enjoy it.

I do have one more complaint to add though:
-In manual mode the DSG doesn't hold each gear. I mean it holds it all the way to a little past red line, but then it will shift, regardless of if you want it to or not.
Other than that, love the DSG.

Would it be sacriligious to put a fast in a TL?
