So one of my employees just bought an Audi R8
I just learned this morning that one of my employees picked up an all black 2008 Audi R8 over the weekend. I obviously know what his annual salary is and I don't see how this is possible! Regardless, I'm jealous...I love those cars. Clearly I must be 'doing it wrong' because I sure don't have an R8 
I'm sure he'll be showing it off at work this week so I'll post pics when I see it.

an yes this individual owns a condo.
in all honesty, i'm actually worried about the kid. it's def not my place to say anything to him but i kinda want to say 'what are you thinking!'
who knows, maybe mommy and daddy are helping him out.
he'll likely bring it in tomorrow. i know he doesn't have it today.

^that's about right for an engineer 4 years out of college. possibly slightly above.
i pay HOA and i own a home. it's almost impossible to get out of HOA in the area i live in.

Engineers FTMFW! Not dogging on the HOA as much as the condo. Reading about people getting foreclosed on for not paying HOA fees that suddenly spike b/c of building maintenance shows that condos CAN BE a bad investment.

No it's his. His parents live in California.
Who said I own a business? I work for a large corporation actually. And yes, I own a home...I bought it when I was 25. And yes again, I have employees.
I'm not sure what you're getting at??...

I think he is saying that if you are 29 and someone calls you "boss" (besides the 21 year old tool) then you aren't doing to shabby yourself.
I'm sure you could rearrange your budget priorities and find a way to "own" an R8.

But yeah man I wouldn't worry to much cause you are definitely doing it right. You will have your R8 in due time with the position you are already in at your age.

Either I'm taking some of these comments wrong or this thread is coming off the wrong way to people. I'm not seriously complaining that he has an R8 and I don't. I'm more or less just kidding around and thought it was a pretty interesting subject and nothing more. I take nothing for granted and I know I'm lucky to be in the position I am in life. However, I will also say I've working my f'ing ass off to get here so I deserve every bit of it.

Is a 70-80k salary a lot in north Carolina? Up here in long island you would be struggling especially if you had your own condo. I would never dream of getting an R8 around here with that low of a salary.
If so im definitely keeping the Carolinas in mind when I job search this winter. Im a mech engineer btw.
