So I test drove a 2007 G35 Sport...

Cliffnotes and Pictures included...

So as some of you may have gathered, I'm looking for a new car. My budget is around 25k, so I was looking around at pre-owned 2006 G35s. I had the day off from work (finally!) so my mom said what the hell, lets go check out some cars.

Arrived at the Infiniti dealership and low and behold, the 2007 G35s were sitting nice and pretty at the back of the dealership. Salesmen gave a quick introduction to the car, and then went inside to grab the key.

He came back, and pulled the car out for us to get a better look. I was standingbehind the G when he started the car, it gave a nice "growl" to let you know you had a bad ass engine in that thing.

I hopped inside and immediately fell in love with the interior. Everything felt so nice. The seats held you in nice and tight, the steering wheel fit right into your palms, and you had that big information screen even on non-navi cars!

So to the drive!

He drove us to a near by parking lot and handed me the keys. I get into the drivers seat, hold the brakes, and push the button, and the engine fires to life. Exit the parking lot onto a nice straight road and gave it some gas. Man this thing flies! Even better, the exhaust note! Not as loud as the coupe, but it makes a sweet growl everytime you accelerate. I come to a red light and switch it over to the manual mode to use the paddle shifters. I accelerate to 40, downshifted 2 gears and give it some gas. It freaking flies and again the exhaust is making music.

After that I just drove normally until the end of the test drive. Another thing I noticed was the "instant MPG gauge" displayed between the tach and speedo, it was nice knowing how much fuel your using. And lastly, the AC was brutally cold, my hands were going numb. My mom's TL is nowhere near as cold.

Anyways, we came back to the lot and I handed over the keys. The dealer didn't have the car I was looking for so the salesguy gave me his business card in case anything came in and that was it. No pressure or anything, very pleasent to deal with.

I also considered the 07 EX-V6 Accord Coupe, but the salesmen there were so fucking pushy I just left. Not to mention they beat the shit out of the car right off the lot. This was norm reeves Honda by the way.

CLIFFNOTES: THE 2007 G35 IS FREAKING BAD ASS! G35 > TL and IS

The Dealership...

The 2007s...

The beauty I drove

Beautiful redesigned center console. Every single G35 has that screen, even non-navi ones

Steering Wheel and paddle shifters

View from the Back. Push Button Start is niceee

The front looks like an old man's car (ie. Lexus LS). The clock is ugly and useless... the rest looks okay.

I'd like to drive the new version of the VQ, believe they raised the redline to somewhere around 7k or 7200, hence the higher HP rating.

I still find the look of the G35 sedan so-so, the coupe however is beautiful.

Just a simple face lift, and the car looks so much nicer than the previous sedan! I love it. Deffinitely > TL.

I'm surprised no one made any dirty comments about his mom, lol.

I love those cars. I personally drive an 03 Accord 6 speed, but wouldn't mind RWD and more power

Good luck, man!

All I know is gosh how I miss that summer like weather now, cause in Chicagoland, it's gloomy and cold.

Do you not know how to read a clock if it isn't digital or something. It tells the time so I can see why it is useless.

All joking aside. I don't mind it. Just wondering if it breaks fast than the digital clocks though.

I went to the dealership last weekend and test drove a 07 G35x, liked it so much I traded my TSX in on it, it should be in on the 10th

People say they don't like the front end, I think it looks like a cross between the old G35, new IS and MB CLS - in other words I like it... then again I always liked the old G35 as well. The clock I could take or leave... by no means a deal breaker.

I don't hate it, just nit picky about certain things. I'm just that way about cars, Acura's included.

I think the new G sedan is going to do great against the 3 series.

...as for the clock, you could put a digital display of the time on the navigation screen so it's no big deal. I don't know why everyone hates on the Infiniti clock.

I think the G is an improvement over the old one, but I don't find it to be out of this world like everyone else is making it out to be. Coming from someone that has the M, the G just looks like a ripoff, especially interior-wise.

I"m sure A6 owners think the A4 and A3 are a ripoff too. And same goes for A8 owners and the A6

The trend over the past few years and what will continue forever I think is this sort of thing though. An auto manufacturer taking one simple design and modifying it slightly to fit different models. It's a win win for them, they save money on the design (don't have to come up with a completely different one for each car), and the public identifies the car because this look and feel brands the car as an infiniti.

All audi's have that uniform center grille, all bmw's still have that dual grille, nearly all the audi interiors look identical with subtle changes.

Not that I can afford it right now, but if I was car shopping
I'd be torn between an 07G35 and an M35/45. I've driven an 04 and an 05 G35 and
the only thing I didn't like was the interior. Seems like they that nailed down pretty well after this refresh. As much as I love my 04TL, I've had to sell the '98 Vette and now I miss RWD BADLY.
But I also kind of need a larger sedan now that I'm doing so much highway driving with passengers. I haven't driven either the M35 or the M45. I wonder if the M35 feels piggish at all, with that smaller engine. I would be constantly kicking myself for not getting the larger engine, unless the 6cyl just happens to be king hell amazing....
But the 6cyl in the new G35s seems just right. It just feels a bit cramped for a big fella like myself.

Yeah if I had the money i'd be all over an 07 (can you tell?). But I'm looking for a used 05/06 G35 sedan black/black for around 25k, but the search has been hard. And now that time has passed, the amazement I had with the 05/06 G35 is kind of fading, and now I just want something a bit more affordable like a used 04 TSX w/ Navi for 20-21k, but those are hard to find too. Patience is wearing thin!

Didn't you just trade in your TSX for the new G35 Tireguy or is that someone else?

How much did Infiniti give you for the TSX or are you privately selling it?

I signed the paperwork, but my car won't be in until the 10th, but yes it was me.

I have an 04 TSX 6spd, non-nav. with 42k miles on it, no accidents, in all around good shape for being 3 years old with 42k on it - they gave me $17k on trade.

I probably could have gotten a bit more on the private market, but this is a whole lot easier and you only pay tax on the amount minus trade in(so I am getting $17k of G35x with no tax) which is a $1360 savings in tax.

I did not try out the 2G G35 but did test drive (again) an 06 G35X (seeing as cheap lease deals abound) last night. ( The handling COMPLETELY owns that of my 02 Maxima SE.)

With regard to the 07 G35, it really is a beauty in person. IMHO, it looks as though Nissan heard everyone's gripes about interior cheapness of the 1G G35S/X and the 'if the G sedan only had the coupe's rear' comments and addressed it with the 2G. to Nissan; they are responsive to what buyers seek.

That said with a baby on the way (in addition to my two teen kids), both the 1G & 2G G35 have too little trunk space and backseat room for me to consider as a possible replacement for my Maxima. ....but it looks like I will be on the lookout for good deals on the M35X.

Seriously...

If you're going to bump them... at least bump them with relevant questions or something... not just with nonsense. Oh well... time to close the older ones with stupid bumps...
