So the Challenger needed an oil change last Saturday...
and a tire rotation and the CAI filter needed to be rotated out for my clean spare.
So, I took the kids to their grandfather's shop and we did it. They had a great time.
Then, on the way home...JUST before my neighborhood I was traveling West bound and a guy in a truck decided to pull out of a Home Depot parking lot traveling South across 4 lanes of traffic so he could make left turn...And well...
The car did its ultimate job. It kept my children safe, and I was able to walk away as well. And thats really all I care about.
Just got official word the car is a total loss, and now begins the search for something new.
The wife and I agreed that now is not the time for another Challenger, which sucks but its true.
Anyway...so ends the 5 year and 18.5k mile tale of Sarlacc. RIP and thank you for keeping my kids safe.

Fuuuuuuuuu...
That sucks big time. Your kids must have shit their pants when that happened... Along with you. With the amount of damage that sucker took, I'm glad it's a write off- I don't think you'd ever be happy with it again, knowing it was smashed that hard and repaired.
Hopefully your insurance company takes good care of you. Glad no one was hurt... Except for the other driver... He should have been introduced to your tire iron.

Very, very glad you and your kids weren't hurt. That looks like quite the impact.
Best of luck with the new car search. Will you be looking at the newer Challengers?

I'm still sorry to read of this. I'm very glad it kept you and the kids safe and in that respect it did its job. Kudos to Chrysler for engineering safety into a fun car.

So sorry to hear about the crash David, such a great day quickly turned bad. Relieved to hear and see that you and the boys are OK, in the end that's all that matters.

Sorry to hear that man but glad you and the kids are ok and walked away without an issue. That really sucks to hear about that happening but the car is replaceable, you and the kids are not. If you haven't gone to see a doctor yet I highly recommend you do ASAP and make sure nothing is wrong. It takes a while before your brain will tell you something hurts so better get it checked out sooner rather than later.
Also, guess this is a good time to get that 2015 Jeep SRT eh?

Dayuuum! That looks like a solid hit. Glad you and the boys are safe - that's all that matters.
Just curious what did the other driver say and/or what was his/her reaction? Assuming he/she will be cited??

I meant to ask you about the windshield being broken in the photos you sent me, but now that I see them full size in this thread it's obvious the passenger side airbag broke it.

I hate those morons who pull out of the Jefferson westbound Home Depot parking lot exit, cross all the lanes and the double-yellow(!) to go eastbound.
Sorry that you ended a victim of one of those jerks.
It seems safer to take the Alla Road exit and turn left at the signal onto Jefferson rather than risk that type of accident, and it's sometimes faster than waiting for traffic on Jefferson to clear for the [illegal] left.

Holy shit, I just saw this.
I thought it was going to be a feel good story about the boys learning about the car with dad and grandpa.
Really glad you and the boys are OK. Honestly, that is all that matters. I hope they weren't too shaken up by it.
Sad to see the car go, but a big thanks to Dodge for engineering that thing to take an impact like that and let you all walk away.
Anyway, seeing airbags deployed always makes me cringe, but I am glad you guys are all OK.
Your back/neck ok?
So, you going to get a new challenger?

Damn, what an asshole ... I can only imagine the beating you wanted to rain down on that guy for endangering your kids. Sort of like what Vinnie Jones did in "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels".
Glad you and the kids are okay. Sorry it's a total loss. I hope that driver gets his license revoked.

I've lived there for almost 8 years now. And I SWEAR there used to be a no left sign. There isn't now.
I've been trying to call the city to find out and it keeps leading to dead ends.
