You're right the photo on the bottom isn't an S4, it's an A4, however the side skirts are body colored which suggests it's probably what the S4 would look like (with Audi wheels instead though and more subtle spoiler)....
As far as power is concerned.... Audi could easily choose to make a high powered Normally aspirated Inline 6 but chooses not to. The BMW M3 makes 333hp but only 266 lb/ft of torque..... Also in order to get to those 333hp you have to rev the engine to nearly 8K RPMS.... Audi's philosophy is high torque at low RPMS.. Look at where the current S4 and TT get their max torque (below 2K RPMS). So, they figure there's no better way to enhance torque than to put a light all aluminum V8 instead of an overstrung 6 cylinder or a forced induced 6 (because of Lag).. There's no replacement for displacement...

Hey... I'm not complaining.

I'll take the V8!!!

Any figures on the cost of this baby?

I LOVE the new A4 body. I just don't think the 1.x or 3.0 are worth what their asking.

Hopefully the S4 will ring in under 50k.

And when will it be here?

Anyone notice that it looks like none of the body panels on any of those cars match?

Some of my friends are unsure also, I think its better that the new one looks like the A6 (A6 is a great design IMO)....while I liked the previous A4, I thought the rear looked like a big Dodge Neon.

Why 4 door S4?????

If it could be a 2-door S4, I'd buy it. 4-doors suck. Ever seen a a real sports car with 4-doors?

M5? Man, I said "REAL SPORTS CAR"...sedans don't count

But I guess I'll settle for 4-doors if it has a V8

Seriously though, I'd never buy the CL if it was 4-doors...coupes rule...

I wish it was a 2+2 seater...too bad there's way too much legroom in the back (up to 5'8" person fits comfortably)...

:P

yuck, i don't like the design at all. I'll take the M3 over the audi any day. It seems that some of manufacturers are making their car lines look very similar. BMW did it with they new 7 series and now Audi with the new S4 and the A4. I think it's cool that the cars have distinct styling that sets it apart from other cars made by the same company. This might be a naive observation but it's monday and early in the morning.....

off to get some coffee.

OMG that thing is tight.... just when I decide that the M3 would be my next car.... nice. If that thing is around $40k - $50k, that would be too sweet.....

From a styling standpoint.... I would buy an S4 over an M3 because Audi has product loyalty.

The last A4 design lasted EIGHT years. And the S4 had to be what? At least a resonable 2-3?

The current M3 is almost out of date already.

The NEW 3-Series sedan is already out... I'm assuming the coupe will be out next year. So then what, the M3 is the stray dog again.

I don't want yesterdays news

The current S4 leased out for around $670 when it first came out.....interest rates were high, economy was good and the car had alot of hype.

For the last 8-10 months you could get them in $550-$570 category with just tax and tags up front (they couldn't give the autos away- so those were like $30 bucks cheaper a month), 39 month, 12k/year.

Right now, a loaded A4 3.0 leases for around $550/month......I'll bet the new S4 will be in the $650-$700 range, because there won't be a program on it for at least a year and the discounting will be tight.
