Rich parents should stop giving their kids 100k sports car.. its a death trap for them considering they do not know how to handle these..

I always say, your first car should always be a POS. In this kids case, Mercedes maybe?

If their parents want to give their kid a car that they can't control, let 'em. Darwin usually filters out the gene pool eventually with some of them.

When I was 20 /yo, my mother purchased for me a new 89 Ford Escort, which I totaled in less than six months.....my speeding being one of the factors.

Apple not falling far from the tree, my 20 y/o daughter totaled her 12 Hyundai Accent (actually managing to flip it) in less than six months.

^ Crazy.

Even crazier that a parent would give that kind of car to their teenage. Sad all around...

Sad for the kid, but if you give them the keys, give them the training to go with it.

Exactly. Moronic parents. You don't give your teenager a high performance car and expect him to drive it like a granny. Of course he's going to push its limits, which almost certainly far exceed the driver's, and bad things will happen.

As much as I must say I'm jealous of this kid for getting an F430 as a present, I must add in that this could have happened to ANYONE in ANY CAR. Yes it was a VERY expensive F430, but a kid could have easily crashed and killed himself in a 450 dollar Fiero or a 400,000 dollar supercar.

The value of the car and the kid being rich has nothing to do with it. It was a stupid kid who lost control of his car showing it off. Rather than blaming the parents or the car, its the kid's fault for not being able to be mature enough on how to handle a car properly at the end of the day. If you can't respect a machine with the power to kill you, then you are going to get hurt.

For those that don't know, Indian parents tend to spoil their kids (me - guilty as charged). My "first" car was a leased RDX tech which I shared with my parents. Then a few months after I turned 17 we leased a TSX for me to use. But we shared all of our three cars.

Anyways, I was given two nice, somewhat fast cars to drive before I even turned 18 and I didn't crash them, or even come close to wrecking them. I was responsible when driving those cars. I knew the consequences of any mistakes would be devastating to me and my parents.

I blame the kid driving the Ferrari, not the parents.

so true...i work with many Asian Indians under 30...and spoiled isn't even the word...but then again Asian Indians live with your parents until your mid 30's, so you're allowed to be spoiled.

but damn, I can't imagine what the parents are going through...

thats very true that could have happened to anyone in anycar but giving a kid a ferrari versus an accord vastly increases the chances of said event happening. thats the point everyone is making.

If you insist on getting your kid a car like that it better include some HPD classes. The parents are as responsible for these consequences as the son. So sad but it kinda upsets me how obviously smart these arents are to be so successful but lacking in parental logic.

Prayers for all involved. How sad. Note to self: When my son is of driving age, I will buy him HPDE time so he learns how to drive fast properly.
