Should I trade my Jeep:

For this 2008 M3?

It's a six speed with Fox Red interior, nav, upgraded sound, and premium package. It has just a hair over 30k miles.
A few questions for y'all BMW heads:
-When did the included maintenance start? 2009?
-Are all BMW shifters so notchy and "clicky" or does this one just have an aftermarket shifter in it?
-Anything major to look for other then usual (paint, etc)?

I think free maintenance started many years ago. Either way i know the 2008 have it.
2008 has the old idrive and the pre-lci tailights for the Sedans. The new tailights came in the 09 models as well as the new Idrive which is vastly improved.
Stock shifter is long and nootchy, there tons of aftermarket short shifters to fix it and is a must. IMO
The new M3s have been faily reliable. No known issues that are wide spread. Some of the 08s had an idle valve issue which dealers fixed. Not something you can tell from driving it, a check engine light would be on if it needed replacing.
Just have a dealer run the service records on it and go from there.
Also take it for a long drive. M3 is special and you really need to rev it up to make it FEEL fast compared to your SRT8. SRT8 just has good amount of low end compared to the M3. They drive differently but i prefer the M3.
SilverstoneII on red leather is so yummy.

Yes, I have been ooogling the new one-plus it should be able to tow as well . . .
I have always liked M3's and this one is coming in at a great price. The Jeep is just about the most impractical SUV ever made (can't take it off-road, can;t tow anything with it) and that is why I love it
With that said, since I can't use the Jeep for what I should be able to use a SUV for, I have been thinking about getting back into a sedan . . .

I'm leaning towards the BMW as well; you can always trade that back for the upcoming SRT-8 when it comes out. As far as the feel for stick BMWs, the manual transmissions have always been notchy imho. An aftermarket shifter for shorter throws might help.
It'd be really tough for me to decide what to jump in if you gave me the keys to both...
I guess I'd base my decision on how the Jeep is treating you up until now... Reliable? Fulfilling your needs? Cost to keep is affordable, etc.
I'm leaning toward the Jeep simply because I'm usually wowed by them a lot more than I am by an M3... Maybe because they're more rare?
but that's one hot SUV!

If that's your case against it then I would say get a Range Rover. The only thing I have against the Jeep is that I think it gets like 8-12 mpg. Is that true?
Out of curiosity... what's the M3 going for? And is the dealer willing to give you a decent amount for your trade???
Edit: I'd like to expand on my previous answer... keep the SRT but wait for the 2012!!!

Wow-not at all what I expected.
To answer some questions, I average about 13 MPG in the Jeep; however, that has never been an issue. The only real problem i have had with it was fixed under warranty (MyGIG freezing). I did have to buy new tires, but that comes with the territory. The dealer is asking $42k for the M-which is cheap (almost too cheap which has my spidey sense up). No word on trade in for the Jeep yet; i'll get that tomorrow.
For me, the two cars serve the exact same function-my DD which occasionaly hauls four people. So it really comes down to which I like more. I'm going to check it out tomorrow, so I'll let y'all know how it goes

Bmw
I had a 645 convert the car was one of my all time favorites the other my 05 SSR. I am on this page because my wife just bought a new TL yesterday and looking for a few items to spice it up. I love the Acura, seems to be one of the best built cars I have ever owned, she wanted a Honda V6 EXL and I convinced her to go way upmarket for just a few thousand more (31,814 +tax no fees). I am currently driving a 07 corvette, automatic now she is so happy with her car I can go back to a 6 speed. The acura is very well constructed. the SRT is an awesome vehicle but my experience with chrysler in general, crossfire and Ram pickup the cars were pretty good the dealer service was a nightmare. The new crossfire needed a new transmission after a month they tried to fix it a few times, Arigio in Palm Beach, great for selling not so good for fixing. The SRT is unique but the Bimmer is an incrediable machine. I have always liked the lines of the coupe.

You paid this for a 2010 TL?
I'm reading this thread and wondering what the hell is going on ...
First the Mustang is as good at the track as an M3 and now everyone would take a Jeep over it.
What happened to <strike>Acura</strike> Bimmerzine?

It is the better car, but that is not the argument in both instances.

Practical? More passenger and cargo room.
Fun to drive...oh these are blast a to drive. Do yourself a favor and hold the comments if you have no experience.
I can't believe this is even a question. The SRT is cool in a way but the M3 is amazing in every way. Why would anybody choose to drive a tarted up Cherokee over the pinnacle of BMW's???
I mean, are some of you really this ignorant or just retarded.
