My hoopdie was overdue for an oil change, and it needed the NYS Safety/Emissions inspection. I haven't been driving her much, maybe 2-3 times in the last few months. Anywho I finally got her back to my office (it's been sitting in my driveway at home for a month) because I'll be moving my business about 5 minutes away from my current location to a MUCH bigger and better place. The van will be used daily now to carry my crap from the old office to new one until the move is complete. I've noticed some noise coming from the front end, thinking/knowing something is wrong in the suspension, and told myself to have it checked out the next time I change the oil. So I finally get it done on Friday. The shop tells me the Tie Rod on the passenger's side was completely cracked/separated. OK, nothing that surprised me, but it wasn't an expense I wanted to have, but whatever...
The van is ready late friday after I left, and one of my workers brings the van back to my office before the sabbath and parks it on my lot (it's open to the street). Now, the door locks are a little quirky. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. If you lock the doors with the remote, it may only lock one of the 3 doors. I'm used to this so I always check to make sure the necessary doors are locked. Either way there really isn't anything in it that anyone would want, so even if we left it unlocked It wouldn't worry me...or so I thought. I've been here for over 5 years and never has anything ever happened to any of our cars on the lot.
My driver uses the van this morning to pick up a car from a dealer and comes back. I have one of my close buddies helping me out with the move so I can still do my regular work and know I can trust him to work as efficiently as I would work in moving the stuff. He asks me, "Why are you driving the van like that?" I asked him, "Like what?" He replied why would I drive the van with the inside such a mess? I still had no idea what he's talking about, then he mentions the dash, to which I go out to see what he's talking about:

Someone stole the focking radio!??!? This is 2011, people!! People don't steal radios anymore! Granted it was a crappy aftermarket radio that I bought the van with, I'm in shock. Plus I had some stuff in the little mesh compartment on the lower part of the dash that they emptied. And they took the entire console that they ripped out to get to the radio. Including the few CD's I had in there (most of which were hebrew learning/studying classes that were recorded). Not a single thing in this van was of value, but it's mind boggling the things some people would do.

What a pain in the ass, sorry Eddie.
Sidenote. This past summer my wife was taking some educator classes at one of the local schools...came out and her car was among many that day that were broken into.
Best part was when I put the aftermarket unit in I bolted it in factory style, I never use those metal pop sleeves they give you....So, while the thieves did bust up the dash a little, they gave up and left everything
Dash pieces were like $300 in total to replace, door was jimmyed open.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I have surveillance cameras outside that should have caught everything. I don't think i've ever had to resort to watching video in as long as I've been there. So I go to the recorder only to see that it wasn't even on. It must have powered off from the million times that we lost power in the office (another reason why i'm getting the hell out of here, the electrical wiring in my office is a disaster). So now I really will never know who did it.
The new place I plan on putting 16 cameras EVERYWHERE, and will be controlled via a remote DVR for full control/surveillance anywhere I am. Bitches..
As for the studying material, it was various lectures on many different topics of judaism and other related topics (www.learntorah.com)

I had mine stolen out of my acura a few years back....but they left the $20 bill in the cubby hole below....was completely visible
Thieves suck. Karma is a bitch.
I had my passenger window busted out once for some loose change and a granola bar. It sucked.
Hey, maybe the thief will listen to those CDs and better himself.

I'm on the border of Lynbrook and Hewlett. Half my block is Lynbrook, half is Hewlett. It's really surprising that something like this happened. And the most annoying part of it was the fact that my surveillance camera wasn't recording it.. It definitely has to be some lowlife looking for drug money. It makes no sense to me whoever else would do this. This was the cheapest vehicle on my lot and that's the one they chose to get into...

And I bet he got $10 for it. That's gotta be like at least a vial of whatever according to Economics of "The Wire" by Houghton Mifflin Press.
No, that's not real
Damn, that sucks. Sorry to hear.
Unfortunately as long as people have had things, there have been theives... 2011, 1011, or 11. Probably the one of the oldest "professions" along with prostitution...

I guess this what the thieves, or "thugs" (as the article puts it) of 2011 are after. Written by a very credible AOL autos.
