Damn you all. This thread has caused me to look even harder. I'm now looking in the '97-'02 range. Most are running in the mid-$40k-low 50k's. Still, if I find a non-scam, non-salvage '02-'05 at the right price, I'll get one.

There is a local 16k mile zanardi if you want to spring for it

Fly in and ship it back
Be happy to host you
Least we could do for a fellow prime member

I still kick myself for getting rid of the NSX.

94 with 62k miles and was able to get it for 30k years ago. Would have been worth more now. What an idiot!

Ya, people are asking $45-50k for that now. For pristine low mileage 1991s some are asking $80-90k.

Thankfully, there are still some around at a reasonable or semi-reasonable price.

They can ask eleventy billion dollars for a '91... Doesn't mean anyone would ever pay that much though. I wonder how many of these uber overpriced NSXs actually end up selling.

They will keep going up but I think at some point they will hit a stopping point again. Especially once the new one has been out a while. I think they are only going up right now cause of the new one the name is in the press a bit right now.

Someday I will get one but probably not for 10 years.

There were TWO low-mileage 1991s here in Cleveland recently. One had 18k miles and was offered for $64k. The other had 8k miles and was offered for $88k. BOTH SOLD. We don't know how much they sold for, but my bet is that they were the high end of the current market. The 8k mile sample obviously went to a collector; the high-end dealer it was at only sells the best stuff, and that's the only person I can think of who'd buy a 1991 for that much or even close to it.

That one lasted about two hours on Prime before it was sold. The person who bought it was already posting last night that they got it.

Super-lucky.

^ Yep. You have to be 110% ready to buy. If you find one but ponder if you should get it or not, it's already gone.

Sometimes, even if you are ready, the seller is not ready. I offered a seller in Canada his offering price in CAD....which was a stellar deal for me in USD......and he decided to keep his car. Either sentimental attachment or they were hoping for a bidding war. Having spoken to the owner, it's certainly the former.

Luckily, I have been looking at more than one and have a lead/deposit on another, and a plan C.

Again, damn you all.

PS Prime fracking rocks. It's like the S2000 community on steroids. No VIN goes unrecovered on that site.

I've heard stories like that so many times. Guy post nsx for sale and almost immediately he gets buyers and then backs out, they weren't expecting it to sell so fast and have second thoughts on selling it.

Bob prime is definitely a good community that looks out for each other. It's one of the better forums I've been on.

I've heard of similar situations. As for my own purchase story, it was really quite drama free. In fall 2011, I took a chance on a really crappy craigslist ad - grainy pics, short description. Happened to be in the San Jose area for a concert where the car was listed for sale, so I made time to see it. The car and its seller were awesome, so I squared away the funds with Pentagon Federal CU (awesome, btw), and flew back a week later to take delivery a week before my 30th birthday. It was a 1992 with 80,440 miles on it.

Today it has 102,000 and I have zero regrets. Cost of maintenance has been nothing more than a few oil changes and a couple of coolant hoses. Luckily I have an NSX specialty service shop local to me, Science of Speed. Recently took the car to Palm Springs for NSXPO 2015 (biggest NSX gathering in North America).

I'm thinking of upgrading to a NSX-T someday, but happy with my 1992 for now. Good luck to any who are still on the prowl!

Post from when I rolled 100,000 miles back in April. These cars are awesome.

I literally felt like shit for 30 minutes after I saw that. I was checking prime daily for about a week, but then all the super high prices and this thread kind of had me giving up. I saw it 4 days too late...

Then that car pops up... and im like WTF!!! That car is 30 minutes away from me, had I seen it I would have dropped everything and bought it.

From what I'm seeing it sold in a heart beat.

I'm going to start looking again, I know it might be months to years before the right one pops up again but I'll keep my hopes up. At least it'll give me time to save up.

Oh and I finally joined NSXPrime, used my work email. Hopefully they don't mind.

Also NeuronBob, I see you on NSXPRIME

I tried to tell you don't let the naysayers tell you otherwise. They're out there just extremely rare now cause of the nsx 2.0 hype and as you can see they don't last long when they do pop up.

MUST be a salvage vehicle. If you go to the website for that seller, you have to give a phone number or email address even to get a VIN. Shady, shady, shady.

In any case, I did it. I am an owner. Longish reply here:

Out of the dozens of cars you owned over the years, your old nsx is the only one that actually appreciated. lol
