Scion TC ??

I am sorry if I post this topic twice since someboday asked me to repost it on the car talk instead of competition part. Thx

Just wondering what on earth is wrong with all TC owner? They all think TC is cool and fast, but I say it ugly. almost 70% of all TC owner i see on the highway tries to race me. Are the TC'ers don't feel secured or what??

I think it is a standard looking car, handles well and is made decently. There is a lot to like especially for the price. I feel like the attitude is the same as the civic coupe drivers, but I haven't experienced anything arrogant or irrational. The dealers in Nashville are horrible, and every test driver at the nashville dealer has a hole in the dash where the radio should be, even the showroom models what a joke

I had a tc before I got my tsx and they feel about the same, but I think it may be just a tad bit faster, so overall it would probably be a driver's race

They are targeted at a younger market, probably a lot of kids first new car. So with that comes a lot of pride and need to prove yourself, that its the best car. I think its a great car for the money, but much like a civic its nothing I would think of driving at the stage of life I'm at, I've out grown that type of car. I have noticed a lot of TC owners think that they are driving a sports car of some sort, while its an all around good bang for the buck, its far from fast, not a great handling car and very numb and detached(but that's typical of most all cars produced these days, in particular FWD).

* Is the target of the Scion brand*

I love tC's and xB's (GOD I LOVE THAT TOASTER!!), I wouldn't really mine using either as a banger (I may mind the tC though, it's a bit on the small side for me), but I really wouldn't race everyone because I know it's not as fast as I may dream it to be (like what many guys around my age think) which in the end is pretty good because insurance is fairly cheap for them. Plus throw a turbo (along other basic parts) on a tC and you're prolly doing 12s in the 1/4 easy (I think), but I'm not really a fan of turbo so I wouldn't do that anyways, but overall scions (My opinion will probably change in about 5-7years or so)

I think you'd be lucky to get into the 13's with just a turbo, unless you ran crazy boost and blew the engine in 5k miles

Why would you blow your engine in 5,000 miles?
Who's to say you can't built the bottom end, and tune it to run safely on 25-35 pounds of boost?

I agree; in my area, TC owners are all race-happy retards who still think loud cars mean fast cars..

Building the bottom end is "more then just a turbo"

Anything is possible with enough work/money, but is it worth it?

It's almost never worth it, except if you consider the fact that you'll be in magazines with a super fast yet cosmetically tasteless car..
Sponsors would be all over that just because you're the only Scion in the 11s, etc etc etc.
You'd be on the road, getting paid to use your car, shit why not?

Of course.. I couldn't pull myself to do it with that ugly of a car..

Yeah dude. You can't polish a turd.

I think Tireguy nailed it in his first post. It's a demographic thing. Kids will be kids.

I believe that the Scions have an aftermarket dealer-installed supercharger kit with full warranty available. IIRC, Autoweek or C&D tested one of them, and it was still a 15-second+ quarter mile car, a little faster than a stock TSX 6M will run (TSX is high 15s).
I actually like the exterior look of the TC, but the interior materials do not look very good for a Toyota vehicle.

You guys need to stop talking about tC's with turbos, bottom ends, and running 11s, unless you actually know what you're talking about.

It is a decent car, but nothing i'd ever own.
And it does seem like tC owners do try to race almost everything on the road

i've always liked the tc. i think it's a good looking car for what it is. it gets kinda pricey, but if i was in high school and/or college and was looking to buy a new car less than $20k, i would consider one.

never had a problem with a tc driver thinking he was a big shot on the road though.

A Scion tc was responsible for it taking me 2 1/2 hours to get home from work a couple of weeks ago. Edit, I'm a selfish bitch, because the retard hit an innocent gasoline tanker driver and killed him, and caused the tanker to burn out of control for 8 hours. They also found Oxycotin in the tc's car, so maybe that explains it.

you know, i encounter the same stuff u go thru. I live in an area with university and high school..and TC are EVERYWHERE! I even saw a HOT PINK ONE! lmao..but yeah most TC who wants to race my TL have like rims and different color paints on their car..or exhaust.

I just ignore them when they rev their engine cause it aint worth my premium gas by stepping on it lol

Scions are mostly aimed towards the younger crowds, hence their commercials. But in my opinion, the TC is just another civic.......and a chick car (No offense to all the men that drive them ). I would never purchase a TC or any Scion model, im sure theyre good cars since they are a part of Toyota, but I just can never see myself in them.

maybe because you are too old looking so didn't bother to race you.

it be a different story if the TL has rims and some aftermarkert stuff installed..of course age doesnt matter when u have those =)

to all my friend who drive scion tc..i told them u better off with the new civic..its better looking interior/exterior and it looks clean with lip kit

At my age, I would not consider any car in this class. But if I were 15 years younger, I would lean more towards an Si than the tC.

You almost had me? You never had me - you never had your car... Granny shiftin' not double clutchin' like you should. You're lucky that hundred shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake! You almost had me?

I test drove a tC a couple years ago. When we returned it, the clutch was already slipping and it make a horrid crunching noise when you put it into reverse.

Funny how they have tried to market the Scions to younger people but the majority of their sales have been in the 50+ range. Older people like a nicely priced car that has most options standard and nothing more then a vehicle to get you from point A to point B.
