SC430 vs TLS: at the Track, TLS WON!

Okay folks, it's time to place your votes.

This Friday at the Texas Motorplex they will be featuring a match up of a Lexus SC430 verses an Acura TLS.

So it's time to put up or shut up.

Who will win, what are your predictions.

The TLS specs are as posted below. Still waiting to hear if the SC430 is competely stock or not, but it's going to be a race either way.

I would say he would take you off the line but looking at your time in the 1/4 it looks like you can launch. You will win but it should be close.

It's a true 1/4 race, all the glory goes to who finishes 1st, but one can still claim partial victory by having the best time.

But, I'm going for both.

We usually have someone there that does that, but I think the main guy is going to miss it. So I'm checking on a back up plan. Even I will want to see it again.

Bold call, :P

Have't heard either way, but doesn't matter to me either way.

My experience is that most manual drivers are average at best, and most stink at the track. I used to race an auto because of that and I won more races as a result.

While the manual is faster, there is more room for error, lots. So I like my odds either way.

Now if the guy is an ace, with a manual, the Fat Lady may indeed be warming up. But don't count 'Ol Ruf out yet, as the local guys found out, I do know how to run a 1/4 race.

How many guys do you know pulling a 14.65 1/4 with a stock TLS, and my worst run was a 14.78 with lots of wheel hop and spinning. My back to back average was 14.66 on the clean track side. So I'm pretty darn consistent too

Now all I got to do is execute my race and not choke from the adrenalin. :P

SC430 are auto only. They don't make a stick for the V8.

LOL , I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried. I've got my and the group's reputation to uphold.

Now how quick can you get over here with those headers and get them installed?

But the guys betting on the SC430 winning by more than a length are dreaming.

With RWD, the SC430 has a definite off-the-line advantage over you. Pressuming its true, your 14.6second ET makes you the quickest stock TLS I've personally seen or heard about. But your trap is low for a TLS/CLS. (In general, your 1/4 mile time looks more like an auto 2K2 Maxima than a TL-S.)

Let us know how it goes.

Engine is stock, but not the wheels.
It's all in the wheels. Ask the DFW group.

Any yes, those times are real. If I had a scanner I'd post the time slip. But the rest of the group knows this for fact.

Real mature bub. Maybe the guy in the hardtop convertible wasn't paying u any mind.

Ruf, what up. It will be close. It will depend on the reaction time a bunch. In the 1/4 mile, the Lexus will shift from 3rd to 4th at around 96-98mph. Also, it will depend on the guys SC. If he cruises all day and tracks it one day, the ECU may shift below redline as it is not used to it.

So it will be close. Could go either way. Would LOVE to see the vid though.

Scalbert roasted Dr. Rick in his GS and his fathers SC 430 from my understanding, though his CL-S is not stock.

Hey Lex 'Ol Buddy, how's it been going?

Well since I've not been able to hook up against a GS400 after all this time, one of the guys knew a guy with a SC430.

Anyway, after hearing I beat a SC430 on the street last weeked, this guy wants a piece of the action.

SO! I agree, reaction time is going to be key, but we'll post the times just so we know how fast each car really is.

And yes, we are planning on having a video clip of the whole thing. There's no hiding now. :P

if the driver knows what he is doing the LEXUS will definetly win. i have an auto cl-s with HKS and intake and my mother has a LS400. a friend and i would take the two cars out and race. the lexus is faster. the SC has 10 more hp than my mom's car so i cant see why the tls could beat it.

especially after 90 the lexus is faster.

i want the results.

Dude, you should never loose to a LS400. Unless you have a basic TL or CL, but not a Type-S.

Either there is something wrong with your car, or you are not pushing it hard. I won't even waste my time with a LS400, unless the guy is a jerk and needs to be put in his place. And I'm good to 105 before any of these cars pull, again a sign that you are not driving you car as hard as you can. :P

So you've placed your bet on the SC430 easily. Now would you care to put a 'G' on it?

BTW - I'm starting to get worried, not about me, but the guy with the SC430. He's starting to get cold feet at the thought of get his arse handed to him by TLS.

I hope he doesn't because I think I'm going to win. I've already beaten one on the street, but this will be more meanful at the track. If he doesn't then he forfeits all glory and honor.

Now who wants to bet on the over and under, as in will I break 14.6 or not?
Odds for 14.7? 14.6, 14.5?

I hope so too!

And I've got a nice coat of wax on so we not only put on a good show beating that SC430, but look good doing it and in the Winners Circle.

since the sc430 is a hardtop convertible...with all the equipment onboard, the V8 engine will just bring it back to normal standards....that shit makes the car so much heavier....if there were no converts, that shit would fly with M3s

I disagree. We have a guy with a 98 LS 400 running a 14.2 with no intake or exhaust. The 98+ LS 400 has the VVTi as the GS 400. It is a mid 6 sec vehicle.

This race is a toss up initally and the LS will be ahead above 80.

RESULTS ARE IN!

And the winner is . . . . RUF

I'll post the time slips as soon as I get someone to scan them in. And the video will be posted later by someone else.

We raced twice because he wanted a rematch, but well see for yourself.

1st Run:

SC430.................TLS
14.791................14.681
96.31MPH............93.65MPH

Straight Time Difference
.0952 , so less than 1-tenth of a second.

Finish line advantage - 3/4 car length.

2nd Run:

SC430..................TLS
14.988.................14.704
95.35...................93.60

Straight time difference
.7517 , 3/4s of a second

Finish line advantage - about 3 car lengths (just a little over 3)

More details later, I gotta run.

Correction, I had the faster time both races.

The first by just .0952 secs and the secnd by .7517 secs.

He did have a higher topend (MPH), but most people who I beat do.

I just kill them at the line.
