An SC300 on roids...Serious roids...
A friend of mine here in Okinawa is in the middle of building out a Toyota Soarer (Lexus SC300 in the US) with a 1JZ/2JZ hybrid motor.
Here's the link to the forum he lists it under:
http://www.zeroyon.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11759
But for those that can't wait, here's a sample of the goodness.
These are from post #164. Go there for a short video of this beast just after he assembled everything. The timing is off, but you'll get the idea. You can read the whole thing for a running history of the project. His guestimate is 600 - 700 RWHP. Not out of the realm of believability if you know what these motors can do.
It's still is not complete. When he comes back from vacation, there will be more to do.
Any comments are welcome, and I'll be sure to pass them on.

nice car, you could basically put the 2jz into any car. Seen it a few fox body stangs, rx-7, probes, 240's, 350'z, ae86 corolla. none the less, nice build on the sc.

And for the straight line types, he's not building something to run Nurburgring for Christ sake. If you look on a map, this is a pretty small island. The big reason is to go to a small track and do some drifting, and short track racing. If things work out, he can take it to the big island in Japan and race there. Thats all.
I just thought it would be odd to see a "Lexus" done up like this.

^^ don't get me wrong that's a fast car but it could have been done (that speed and 1/4 mile time) probably for 1/2 the cost if the dude went and got a like a WS6 Firebird or SVT Cobra.

I'm jealous... don't some Soarers in Japan come with the 2JZ-GTE under the hood already? And is it me or is your friend's brake MC look really nasty?
A friend of a friend has a Lexus GS (the oval headlights one) with a 2JZ swap with the Supra 6-speed Getrag. 700+ rwhp, spins the tires on the freeway in 3rd. Excessive, but its still bad ass.

And the MC looks a bit rough because he did not clean the engine immediately. He was worried about finding leaks (and if you read his posts, the oil filter blew off of the relocation kit, wrong threads, slightly). He knows to clean it. The big thing is the booster works OK, and there are plenty of donor MC's here. Toyota is very common for used parts.
And for the work, he took an old motor and stripped it down, cleaned, bought all new parts, got the heads (another old engine), cleaned, ported, new turbo, cams, etc... This was about 6 months of just getting the parts. Yeah, total engine build, not just a few parts.
No hate, just letting the AZ folks see someone building a beast here. That's all.
