saw a Panoz Roadster today

It was in my complex and some guy was washing it. At first I thought it was a Z3 w/ a wild body kit, this car is a lot smaller then it looked in pictures (similiar to that first viper you saw on the road).

Well the guy was washing it (doing a horrible job, I offered him my help but he denied, his loss), I guess he was doing a photoshoot w/ for the Robb Report today.

Back to the car, the fit and finish wasn't that great, the front bumper gaps didn't line up, some of the others were straight. Anyone been up and close to these cars? How are they?

Yeah, I've seen the AIV at car shows and it really is quite small. The Panoz cars are produced in such small numbers that you would imagine it should have fantastic fit and finish, but it really doesn't.

Haven't driven one, before, so maybe I should add it to my list.

yea, I have a feeling it's probably like a modern day sunbeam tiger like the one we are building w/ a little less power to weight ratio

they have ford 5.0's right?

edit, never mind, they are pigs

weight 3,500 lbs

and it's the modular ford 4.6 w/ 320.

That car would be sweet if it weighed around 2800

Wait, are you talking about the AIV roadster or the Panoz Esperante?

Ah...ok...

Still, I have not been impressed with the Esperante. It's way too heavy for what it is. The AIV was all aluminum and weighed next to nothing, yet share the same modular 4.6L as the Esperante. That was a quick little car.

the roadster is awesome. The esperante is just a ford parts bin car. Hell to get the supercharged V8, that you must get to get any REAL performance out of it, it will set you back around $100k!!!

There is one at Gentry Lane (Dupont St.) in T.O. that I was checking out

Meh.. I thought the same- Z4 or Miata with a kit. Definately wouldn't pay what they are asking- Mustang GT performance for quadruple the price

well, say what you want about the mustang motor, fact is it's one of the best motors out there, there is a reason it's used in so many different applications

Actually I never even mentioned the mustang motor- which I also think is a fine motor- More to the point of the two performance pretty close to the same level and the Mustang is significantly cheaper( while having the same engine)

well, that's like saying, why buy a ferrari when a vette is quicker. I will say that the Panoz is in a different class!

Not really- It is like paying for a Ferrari that has a corvette motor

But I get your point- different class- I just don't see the incremental value
