Said goodbye to my CTS-V today
I woke up early today to go through the CTS-V (Baby-V) and remove any personal items and pull the subwoofer. I started her up and took a final listen to the lopey idle and low growl of the Magnaflows. I took the short shifter into my right hand and slowly backed her out of the garage. I drove the two miles to the dealership trying to be strong for her. Crying could only make it worse.
As I handed over the keys I looked back on those twisty roads and blurred straight-aways. It brought deep sadness to my heart to let her go...
...for the next week, that is. A brand new clutch, upgraded '06 rear differential and a Magnacharger Supercharger is being installed. I remember when the supercharger went into my CLS and my biggest regret had always been waiting so long to do it. The S/C made the CLS sooooooooo much more fun to drive. I'm expecting the same out of this supercharger as well...though it'll be more fun to oversteer this badboy!!
I'll have a 500 mile break-in period for the new differential but I plan on doing that in one day. She's supposed to dyno around 460rwhp/420rwtq with the included tune and about 6psi. A smaller pulley and a new tune should get me another 30whp/tq easily. I'm gonna have a blast surprising the hell out of some exotics around here!!

The stock brakes are 14.0" 4-piston Brembos up front and 14.4" Brembos in the back. Should stilll give me fadeless stopping power.

You'll still take me 0-60 though. The extra power just means extra spinning off the line unless I get some real meaty rubber in the back.
I LOVE the CTS-V Caddys. I almost bought one when I was in the market two years ago this coming summer.. wound up with my '04 TL.
The small block Chevy is a sweet piece of engine in the CTS-V.

i remember walking by one of the cts-v's and noticing how freaking huge the rear brakes were. im impressed with the TL's brembo's up front, I cant even begin to imagine how it feels with them on all corners.

Now I really do need to get that stage II.
Congrats... you're going to enjoy this upgrade immensely.
Good luck man. I'm installing A new Heads and very, very aggressive cam in my car and should be maing roughly the same power. But the beauty of the blower is the ease of installation and tune. I have been in a supercharged LS1 and they move. You will love it and kill msot other cars on the road. Enjoy.

I considered putting a more aggressive cam in as well. I was told I could get another 30-40whp with the blower. The idle on the LS6 is a bit lopey already so I'll probably keep it stock on the internals.
In my opinion, the LS2 is a better motor. Puts out the same peak numbers but with a better "area under the curve". The LS6 is more at home in the upper rpm's as the ZO6 liked to find it's way to the local track. The '06 CTS-V has the same LS2 so it would be interesting to see which car is faster, the LS6 or the LS2 equipped 'V'. Have you considered upgrading to a 427ci package or something "crazy" like that??

Have fun with the V!

For your other ?, i am aiming for about 500 NA horses on the stock bottom end, when she starts going, then i will do either a 383 forced induction, or go big with the 427 na. By the end of march i will have my car modded as follows:
-AFR 225 Heads
-TSP "Torquer Cam" 232/234
-Fast 90/90 LSx intake manifold
-Nick Williams Ported 90mm throttle body
-Upgraded injectors
-crane 1.7 variable ratio rockers
-comp 921 dual rate valve springs
-comp chromloy pushrods
-Plus all my other mods and bolt ons.
I say i hit 460 and run low 11's, possibly high 10's with traction.
-Underdrive Pulley

Also the Lingenfelter GT2-3 cam is made for forced induction apps. It makes big power, but the only thing that people hate is the ramp rate is so fast that the springs get a beating and tire out after abour 6000 miles.

Bigman is correct. About 340hp/330tq. The driveline is fairly inefficient. It has a very large and very heavy dual-mass flywheel that sucks up alot of power as well. I think the thing weighs as much as a Honda Civic.

Go with a reverse split cam, something like a 230/224, or even a 228/224. Both on a 114 LSA, and your idle will probably lope less than it does now, or at most, the same. The 114 LSA really smooths things out. The LS2 is an awesome motor, but i think LS2 vs LS6 it's all on the driver until the top end, where i have actually seen an LS6 z06 inch away from a C6.

Very nice setup. I've been told that the stock LS6 cam is actually pretty good for FI applications. I know I could get a little more from a different cam and I'm sure I'll end up getting "bored" with the blower configuration. At least I'll have that in reserve just in case I get beat down by too many GTO's.

ls6 vs LS2. Exhaust on the LS6, that exhaust gives the car maybe an extra 10 horses. http://videos.streetfire.net/Player....40DC8&kw=2&p=2
I'd recommend upgrading the brakes and tires. My friend has an LS6 CTS-V that he used as a track car to give rides and he always complained how the tires, suspension, and brakes suck. The V comes with narrow tires for how heavy the car is and how much power it puts down.

Suspension work is a must for a CTS-V with the idependant rear. They sell many rear suspension kits to get rid of wheel hop. A strut tower brace, sway bar, and some shock and springs will help the front end.

can i borrw like $28?? baller
