Of the three mentioned I'd take an STi and buy a walkman for the longer trips!

Doesn't have leather seats, cloth doesn't get that cold. The auto dimming mirror/compass is a dealer installed option (I have it, works well). The STI and Evo have HID lights, manual leveling. STI has semi-automatic type climate control.

I'd go for the RX-8. It handles like a dream. I wish they offered this one in the states, I'd be all over it:

Well by your terms, you should be spending away. It seems as if you like underpowered $30K cars too - b/c your driving one. The RX-8 is as fast as a CL-S6 and will whip up on one in the twisties. The turbo Neon is great, but it still looks like a Neon and feels like a Neon. If you want to sit in it everyday, more power to ya.

RX-8s can be had for a few thou off the MSRP around here as well...
