rsx a-spec

I am at the dealer now waiting for my oil change, and just looked at the 04 rsx a-spec. WTF over 5 grand for the a-spec. All it has from what i know is 17 inch wheels, firmer springs, yokohama es100 tires, and the factory body kit. No shocks, no engine work, and no interior work wtf. Even the a-spec tl has interior mods like 2 tone leather and shit. I hope they dont sell a single one, i cant stand these bs packages acura is trying to put out now. So lets see for 5 grand so lets say 2 gs for 17 inch acura wheels hahah, 2 grand for factory body kit hahah, then you still have over a grand left for springs and tires that are 100 a piece. I also just saw the tl with the 18 inch wheels. They want 1700 for the acura wheels omfg. I could get some 18 inch bbs lms for that price what bs. Im sure this has been discussed before, so i apologize for reposting now. Just cant believe this shit.

Worst part part is that you can't even buy them seperately!?!

OK...yes u can purchase them seperatly...lets say u bend one of the rims...what do they tell u u have to buy a whole a-spec package again. U can get them seperately...trust me. And also included is a shift knob and high performance struts.

I think you can get replacement parts for the A-spec but you can't buy them individually. Part of the purpose for the A-spec is that they are dealer installed upgrades...sold as a package...and is covered under warranty.

But $5,000 for a "performance package" that doesn't touch to engine is stupid anyway.

This is true. I read this in a magazine recently & that was their beef too...you could not buy seperate pieces to install yourself...it was all or nothing.

Type S, Type R those are "good" things to have in a car's name.

Sorta like RS (rennsport) on a Porsche.

WTF does A-spec mean anyways

Well; start a letter writing campaign, maybe the price will drop to $4800.

That's probably the case. It was in Motorweek, I believe, last month. But, they made a big deal about it being a "packaged" price. Hopefully, like your dealership...other dealers will part the kits out to service more of their customers.

Another way of cheating the system is basically going in to the dealer and saying I have an 04 RSX Type S w/ the A-spec package and I was driving and hit a deep crater in the road. Tell them u blew out the struts or bent the rims and would like to purchase new ones. Trust me...they won't say u have to spend 5K on the whole package all over again. They can't. Maybe they're just strict about piecing it together when u buy the car new from them. But like I said go in after and say u broke/bent/blew-out something and want to purchase new ones. Tell them ur gonna do the installation ur-self and they will sell it to u.

I find that term (read: 'jew you out') offensive but, Tom Elliot is no doubt behind the decision to go A-spec rather than Type R.

I'm going to have to agree with F23A4 on this one. I'm not jewish but I find derogatory comments like that offensive anyway.

Sorry.

One thing for certain, you're NOT politically correct: Your use of the term "jew" is insulting to Jews. What are you some kind of nazi?

Oh lay off the poor guy. I dont think he meant it to purposely insult jewish people. Yes its not politically correct, but I seriously doubt everyone is politically correct all the time either.

He just used a term for "acura is ass raping you"

Without belaboring the issue, I'm sure he didnt mean it to be offensive and most of us know what that term means. But it can be construed as an offensive reference to Jewish stewardship practices. (BTW, I'm African American born again Christian.)

ANYWAY, I do agree that Honda is selling a weak 'bill of goods' for a premium with the FP (or A-spec) RSX packages. Especially when there's a great Type R model avail in Japan that would DEFINITELY sell well here (i.e.: WRX, Evo, etc,...). Sidenote: Honda also needs to drop the current Si and import the CTR while they're at it.

Peace

I saw a black one at the dealer this morning. It looked nice enough, but for $5495, or whatever it was...$4,100 plus installation, according to one of the business managers...I think I'll pass. I told him that it was a nearly-30k Integra. He didn't seem very amused.

I also sat in an '04 TL. Quite a nice interior, but I'm still not feeling the exterior. The interior is so much more snug than my '98 3.2 TL-P. I realize Acura is trying to achieve something different with this TL, but it's considerably smaller inside than I expected. I'd like to drive the 6-speed to see how it is, though.

Yes RS is good! I think A-spec means Ghey-spec. I actually think the RSX is pretty sharp with the A-spec package. You can just get a lot more if you spend that same amount on your own mods.
