2003 rsx automatic just picked up used - very pleased with performance

annoying click sound when braking coming from gear console - if when breaking in park

brake work was done (pads, rotors ...) which should not be related

any thoughts on what should be checked out - did not notice the sound on the couple of test drives that I had

So if I'm reading this right, the clicking noise is coming from the area of the gear shift while you're braking in Park?

Sounds to me like it's just the gear shifter being unlocked when you press the brake allowing you to shift into gear from park. If it stayed locked, you would never be able to get out of park, and stepping on the brake unlocks it.

So if that is what it is, sounds normal to me...

 

The click occurs when in drive and braking to a stop

When in park, each time I hit the break it clicks each time I pump

Odd cause it was not happening before the work was done. Odd too that its coming from the gear console.

Any additional thoughts?

Perhaps it has a third brake light flasher installed. My Miata has one of these and when the stereo is off it is pretty annoying. Mine's in the trunk, but I could see someone installing one of these in the console, too.

I'd peel off the trim and see if you can localize it.
