In a communique that just breezed across the Acura Interactive Network, Dick Colliver has officially announced "In our quest to provide you and our customers with the very best and most appropriate Acura models, we have decided to eliminate the RSX from the 2007 line-up, thus streamlining our product offering to better fit with Acura’s evolving and more upscale image."

When talking about the next gen NSX (which I think he was), SH-AWD is bad.

I agree. But its hard to justify the price with the Civic Si now available. And I can't imagine this will make dealers very happy. They must have been promised a replacement.
Turbo Coupe anyone

I've read many a headed thread about the 911 C2 (rwd) vs. 911 C4 (awd), and there are valid points for either platform to be "better" then the other... The 911 is a rwd car engineered to be awd, while acuras are fwd engineered to be awd.
I'm biased towards rwd platforms that have been modified to be awd, but for a summer only car, I don't see the need for awd, and it's added weight, cost and complexity

For a winter beater, awd would be nice...

The new 8G Civic (particularly the Si) killed any possibility of the Acura RSX migrating to Honda as the Integra. IMHO, it could have migrated successfully to Honda and would have slotted well between the 7G Civic coupe/Si
and Accord coupe.
Chalk it up to another Honda misstep.
He also refers to SH-AWD as a bad thing being on the TL and TSX as well. The RSX has the Civic SI as a replacement, and if they were to have a next gen RSX, it would have to have a brand new engine to be better than the civic. Then again, it doesnt seem like they're pulling any more power out of the K20 so they would have to dump a V6 into it for it to make sense.
But that puts the RSX way above the TSX and that makes zero sense. We all saw the discontinue coming when the new si came out.

I had one for a loaner for a few days. Had about 6k miles on it, and it felt like it was falling apart. Engine rattled on acceleration, brakes were weak, interior felt poorly put together. Felt like driving a Cavalier.

....not if the 2G comes with the RDX motor and drivetrain.

Why would they want that? The TSX is a very strong seller.

...allocations that turn over before their 6-week window, TMV that is well over invoice, resale value that is above industry average, good margin for Honda as a whole, strong target demo penetration...
All the reason to kill the program.
