Rotor question...

I understand my car is not an Acura... (07 Lexus IS250 AWD). I am looking for rotors to replace my OEMs. Stocks are ridiculously pricey. I am not an aggressive driver and so am looking for good but not crazy expensive. Any suggestions on brands. Should I get slotted and/or grooved, etc..

Pads will be Akebono ceramics.

I've heard good things about Centric and EBC Ultimax slotted.

Check with our sponsor Brakemotive too. A lot of people seem to be happy with them on the TSX and TL

rockauto.com is your friend. Look up the rotors by application and then scroll down to the performance options. Centric makes drilled and drilled/slotted rotors.

Isn't the point of slotted/drilled rotors the increased heat dissipation?

I've always heard that for standard driving blanks are better because they have more surface area (and therefore more friction) to help you stop faster. If that's the case, I'd recommend standard blanks since you mentioned you're a tame driver.

My experiences with http://www.heeltoeauto.com/ has always been great.

I got news for you....The rotors on your car aren't made by Lexus!

Any rotor will suffice, for the most part.

I had excellent results with Centric (drilled) rotors. As far as blank, slotted or drilled, it's really a personal decision. There's arguments on both sides of the coin whether one is better than the other. I think the most important thing you can do to prevent rotor warpage is do not over torque your lug nuts down. Make sure you torque them to manufacturer's specs. For me, in my experience, the drilled Centric rotors held up perfectly and I never experieced warpage with them in the 3 years they were on my Accord.

My coworker needs a set of rotors for his 2007 M35. Any recommendation? I heard their stock sucks too. He just needs something normal. He's not a car guy at all. I don't think he knows if his car has 4 banger or V6. So, yes, just something normal would be suffice for him. Thank you guys!

I sell parts for a living and there is definitely different qualities of brake rotors. Some of the rotors sold out there are junk so you have to be careful what you buy. You get what you pay for.
