you must shake your head at a TON of cars on this site then...
Honestly...I like the looks of it, but i also know how much of a pain in the dick it is to drive and constantly fix that. I wanted the S to get in and rip it...have fun, not care...
I'm getting away from that, unf.

It's all on taste. Heck, a heap of people think my FX looks like an abomination on wheels.

I never understand when I see a 370Z or something like that so slammed that it can barely even go the speed limit. Granted I feel somewhat similar with the TL, but with a performance-oriented, fun-to-drive car, I can't imagine taking that aspect away from it.

You forget?
I don't enjoy cars it's so lowered that the wheels have to do...funky things like that white S2K. It's even worse when the rear goes INTO the wheel wells. Ew.

I see a lot of people who mod to make sure their car is "accepted" by most members...I think it all comes down to taste and personal preference....
hell if you want to throw on some 19-20" chrome wheels and some chrome trim, I might not like it but if it does it for you, more power to you....
I am with you on the white S2000 as well....if the poke was slightly less and if it was slightly higher, I would be drolling all over that car....
same with running 215 tires on 10.5" wheels...does not do it for me....of tucking or slamming to a point where you scrape your frame, does not do it for me again....

Okay, so I hate documenting mistakes, butt fuck it.
Here is the now slightly pulled and wavy and amateur repaired bondo that popped out. Not TERRIBLE if you're not staring at it, but I will want to revisit this properly/professionally when I get around to painting the front bumper and lip from some other minor damage.

and guess what...for shits and giggles I threw the stock 17's back on and I have to agree, car sits lower and just looks right with the smaller diameter wheels. I'm sure part of it is the quality of the tire is better but it rides better too. I'll be selling the TE's, possibly to a friend of mine. I don't know why I got so hellbent on getting aftermarket wheels.
I was able to use the longer TL oem lugnuts on the extended studs too...now, I can just order some 15mm version ones and I'm all set...perfect for the front offset and I can go back to the correct lugs/locks. I had to lower the car back down to exactly where I had it set before...car looks so good low on smaller wheels...now that I compare it BACK to how it was, the 18's DID look bulky.

as with everything, I'll sleep on it for a bit before selling the TE, but I think I've decided. We'll see if I feel the same way in a week. Good thing is I can list them for a decent amount of money on CL and they'll sell...

Dennis,
the rear is easy...while it's screwed in place, run a sheet metal screw about an inch further back and then cut away the tab...it's identical to what to do for the TL front fender. Then roll away. The rear is robust and easy to roll, the fronts were a little more challenging.
I actually need to order a version 1 fifteen mm spacer for the front now, that's with the 10, but it's not fat enough to bury enough of the extended stud to put the stock small lug nuts over, I don't like the oem TL lug nuts because no locks AND they're longer than the rim face.
FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS, indeed.

Dennis, unless you want to get into extended studs, I'd recommend you stick with Version II spacers. In which case you'll want a minimum of 15MM.
Trust, if you want flush, you'll do 15/20MM and do a mild roll. Don't worry about tab relocate unless you need to, but you probably won't.
J.
Austin, lmao, dude you barely looked at the car on the TE's that day you came over. You looked rather unimpressed.

Gonna sleep on em for a bit, but I more than likely will. I kinda knew it, but I do agree that 17's are the biggest that should be on this car.
Don't be pointing out my fender... I have a hard enough time looking at anything BUT that at this point.

I like the TE's...as a general rule, I feel the rims with a lip looks smaller than they are....
so the OEM 17's look just as big as the 18" TE's....I still feel its the concavity....
take a side shot with TE37 up front and Advans in the rear....then swap the TE37 with OEM and take a shot and finally swap the Advan in the rear with TE37...you will see that its not really the size, its more of the concave vs flat spokes...

trust me, I'm familiar with concave...
but if you thought it was hard to find a wheel that didn't require MAJOR aggressive offset for deep concave on the TL, now start off with 10 and 20MM LESS to work with on the S to begin with. I can ALSO say that the S is MUCH more finicky with fitment and fucking the fender up by going too aggressive on the front than the TL. I wish I could go back in time and not have fucked with it. The oem wheels are pure absolute sex and I care more about the spokes going to the edge than them dipping in.
Case in point

Honestly, I still wonder why I couldn't have just been happy with the Aspecs on 245's on the TL...maybe a little roll and spacers and sitting perfectly and just left it as is.
