Riding around on a donut

For like 2 weeks since my tire is on national backorder from General.

I know not to drive over 55. I know not to drive a long distance.
The donut is on the front. Would it be better to move it to the rear until my tire gets replaced?

2 weeks of going to work is going to be like 300 or so miles plus where ever else I need to go. Lot's of traffic, lots of turns.

Definitely move it to the rear. Braking and handling performance is much more compromised with that donut at the heavy front end than it would be on the rear.

I hear the rule is 80 and 55 ... 80 miles total and no more than 55mph.

I put over 700 miles on one of those things. It was on the rear of my 1995 Golf.

Yeah, put it on the back... more tire wear occurs on the front tires then the rear (even on rwd cars). It's not the power, it's the turning that puts more wear on front tires.

i dont trust donuts at all...you're lucky you live in FL and not up here in the north where the potholes are the size of shopping carts...good luck tho...might've been asked, but what tire are you waiting for that's on national BO?

General Exclaim UHP 235-45-17
I called General direct & verified it.
Has to do with the price of oil, & the short supply inventory going on now with oil.
You need oil to make tires.

Ok, so I'll move it to the rear when I get home. Guess I might as well rotate my tires front to back while I'm at it.

I did learn the stock jack really sucks. Would have it killed Acura to put a real sold handle to crank the jack up. The stock setup uses the lame ass thin 2 piece handle thing & it blows.

Yeah, the stock jack blows... I got a flat a couple of weeks ago, but I noticed it in my driveway, so I could use my floor jack instead...

Ok moved to rear, & rotated. Ready for new tire whenever that comes in. Sucks not being able to speed or drive on the HW

I'd try to find a cheap used tire in a "close to" size and run that until you can get a tire. Something close has gotta be better than a donut.

Well, since my brand new replacement is FREE why would I want to spend $50 on a used tire?

Are these donuts one extended use things? Like you can use it repeatedly for a day or two but if you use it for a week or two you need a new one?

Use it however long it lasts. Once the tread on it it wears down then you have to replace it.

Good. I never drove more than 50 miles on one of those. I actually did go out and spend the $50 on a used tire. And I used it a couple times instead of my donut. Donut got me home and to the tire shop.

when i had a TL, for some reason i had an extra stock 16in rim that i would use whenever i blew a tire. Never ever put a donut on that thing. and then when i had my 19s, i used the type S rims as my donut.

if you got a spare rim lyin around with decent tread, use that instead.

When you have directional summer tires it's hard to use a spare full size rim. You never know what side your going to need.
