Ride and drive for the TSX.
I went on a TSX ride and drive monday at TX satadum in Dallas. I have to say that "I" was a little disappointed at the TSX. I dont know if it was from a lack of "behind the wheel time" or the way the car was presented. There was entirely too much class room time and not enough behind the wheel time.
I was looking for tight steering and HP on demand (like the 200hp RSX-S). My thinking was that the 200hp TSX would be close to the RSX.. Wrong answer!! The car was softer than i expected, but handled very well through the course. A little too much body roll "for me" (nothing some springs cant handle) and the acceleration wasnt as crisp as the RSX-S off the line. We did not get to drive and six speeds (only the auto tranny).
Inside you do however get a shit load of standard equipment. The new Nav system is kick ass and the stereo is way better than the RSX's. The lay out is nice but reminded me of the new Accord too much.
The cars that were on site to compair to the TSX were:
The Audi A4 CVT w/ sport pkg (real pig off the line, slow as shit) it was prolly the best handeling of the bunch. Interior was sweet looking, a little classier looking than the TSX's.
The Volvo S40, total peice of crap, poor acceleration and interior looked cheap (looked and felt like a re badged ford).
The Lexus IS300, best acceleration of the bunch, liked the leather/suede seats, gauges were different (dont know if i would like them for 4 or 5 yrs), only rear wheel drive of the bunch, this cars rear end got a little squirley during acceleration and cornering.
Over all i think the TSX is a nice car. Hopefully the 6spd will give a more spory feel (like a 4 door RSX). I have to say that the Mazda 6 is a very nice alternate to the TSX. The Mazda has a sportier ride and a V6 engine, but doesnt offer all the bells a whistles of the TSX.
New news.. I just found out from one of my sources that the TSX will start at $26990. No diff in price for the manual or the auto tranny. Only option will be the NAV system (between $2000 and $2200)
If i left anything out please ask questions.
Peace!

trying to get a lil V-I
I looked at the mazda 6 just for curiosity sake last weekend.
I was very impressed with the overall package of the car. Exterior had a nice sporting stance, interior was "nice" but not luxiourous.
With a sticker at $26k fully loaded...it's fairly close to the TSX. But I guess Mazda was hurting because they were selling them at "a penny over invoice" or $23k and change.

Hopefully there is some kind of test drive like that coming up for the public...you know, to kick off the TSX in the showrooms. When is the TSX supposed to be on sale? I think I heard the first week of April, but I may be wrong.
My service manager said he went and tested the TSX against those cars mentioned. He said it handled really well, probably best of the bunch. The IS300 didn't stick too well (rear slid and fishtailed a bit) and the A4 was slow...and the S40...well, it's cheap. I'm looking forward to at least checking out the TSX...hopefully at some kind of a course. 6-speed should be more sporty...but I do wish some kind of Type-S or so came out of it.

Im thinking Acura will definitly do a type-s in a couple of months. They want to insure that the TSX launch is not sabotaged by a more potent version that may be lurking around the corner. I think Acura will shove the 3.0 V6 in the TSX, with a underbody kit, spoiler of some type and bigger brakes. Oh yhea!
The acceleration of the IS300 just blew the TSX's away. The Audi A4 5spd quattro is better also. Hopefully the 6spd will be a lot better off the line.
