Yeah I was confused about that...I had what I thought to be knowledge of what clipping was, and then I saw the Civic, and thought I was incorrect.

People makes mistakes. Especially 18 year olds. Doesn't mean they deserve to have their heads smashed into a million pieces.

Holy crap that is crazy,............and gross.

A toll booth operator was believed to be in the structure at the time of the accident. There were no additional injuries, CHP officials said.

You play, you pay.

Sorry, I cleaned up shit like that for 8 years of my life if you are going to drive that speed and endanger others you run the risk of ending up looking like an exploded roman candle. Thank god she only killed herself.

Everyone should take a long hard look at those photos. I'm not saying it's going to stop anyone from speeding or careless driving or being a tool out on the highway but I bet just for a second you will think twice about some of your past actions and maybe your future ones.

It's one thing to do something stupid in a car you own; it's a whole different situation when you STEAL your parents' car and do something stupid, especially a car that is known to be difficult to drive at the limit, even for seasoned professionals.

I guess I just don't feel a whole lot of sympathy for people who go out of their way to do stupid things.

Pretty girl...with no brains? That's no shame.

Unfortunate that a life was lost...but, to be honest, anyone who drives while drunk deserves to be severely kicked. And well, in this case, she paid the ultimate price.

I'd be lying if I said I felt bad.

Its a shame. Yea she made a mistake, and its really fortunate nobody else was taken out. I do have to agree(though it may be contradictory some other posts I have made on here), because one makes a mistake, especially someone that young, they do not deserve that. How the hell do you lose control of a 911 at around 100mph? I am willing to bet she was UI, or the kid with open booze in his Honda pulled out in front of her.

Ugh, its so creepy. You see that girls picture, than you see those pics. Here face doesn't even exist for her parents to see one more time Unfortunate reminder that we are flesh and blood. I dunno, damaged heads are the worst type of trauma to see pics of IMO. Maybe it is because if you think about it, that is your entire life, just blown into an oblivion.

Ugh

Maybe I'm being severe here, but there are some mistakes one simply does not make in life. Stealing your parents' car and drunk for that matter is one of them. It's unfortunate that she died...yes. But, I'm sorry...don't feel sorry for her.

I'm just relieved that the Honda driver was not hurt.

I thought they had said drugs were not the cause of the accident. She may just have had a breakdown or been suicidal.

Being in high school I can tell you many kids drive under the influence, and in mommy and daddy's cars, and their have been accidents. While this retarded, and if I was there I would intervene, I wouldn't say these kids deserve to die, let alone have their head destroyed.

18-year-old Ladera Ranch woman killed on toll road
CHP says Nicole Catsouras was trying to pass another car on right at more than 100 mph.
By KIMBERLY EDDS
The Orange County Register

LAKE FOREST– Nicole Catsouras, 18, of Ladera Ranch was killed Tuesday afternoon when her black Porsche 911 Carrera clipped a Honda she was trying to pass on the right at more than 100 mph on the Eastern (241) Toll Road, the California Highway Patrol said.
So was the girl in the Porsche planning to drive through the toll booth at 100+ mph? Anybody with half of a brain would be expected to be going much slower in the vicinity of a toll booth. :shakehead

On that road, there are "open" lanes for people with transponders, and boothed lanes for cash payers. There are, I think, 3 open lanes to the immediate left of the toll booths.

It's funny how in the article it states that the black porsche clipped the civic when passing on the right, but yet the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

more than likely, the civic didn't see the porsche coming up that fast or misjudged the speed, and started making a lane change. OR, the civic didn't didn't even bother to check their mirros and changed laned and caused the accident (this happens a lot in LA)

too bad dead people can't defend themselves

On a Saturday night in the late '80s, I was taking my oldest (junior high school) daughter to a cotillion dance (ballroom dancing). My wife and my younger daughter were also in the car. We came upon what appeared to be a hit and run that had just occurred.. there were no emergency vehicles present and some people were just starting to come out to see what had happened. It was a 4-lane road, speed limit 35, and a man was laying on the other side. He had what looked like a trench coat on and it was up partly covering his upper body. His right leg was parallel to his body with the foot next to the right side of his head.. the thigh area had been nearly severed from the body. There was a pool of blood about 5-6 feet around him due to exsanguination from his femur artery.. he was obviously dead. I could clearly see the torn skin and muscle tissue, and the severed bones. Please don't think me cold, but this does not both me. He was already gone.

Some years ago, I worked with a man who, while in college, worked for a county emergency service. He made a number of calls to accidents and saw some pretty bad things, but the worse was arriving at a car accident and watching three teenages burn to death in the back seat of a car. THAT bothered him, as it would me. Seeing that and not being able to help because they were still alive and dying horribly.

We watch too many movies and too much TV were death is frequently shown as clean and quick. In fact, many times the opposite is the case. Think of this. When you see a deer hit on an interstate and it is torn apart with entrails and parts scattered about, the same thing happens to people when they are party to such vehicular accidents.

The best that can come from these pictures is the hope that people might take more care in their driving and reduce this kind of carnage.

It certainly is a shame this young girl did something really stupid and paid for her error with her life. At least she didn't take others with her. While her problems are over, sadly, her loved ones will continue to bare the pain of her loss. Seeing this takes me back to my own youth and some of the really dumb things I did or was involved in doing.

May God have mercy on her soul and comfort her family.
