Registering a Car in Cali
Hey everyone well I just bought a TSX last week anyways. The car was financed but the seller paid off America Honda and were waiting for the tittle. Now the problem is DMV says you need to register a car in 10days after the purchase, but doesn't say how to without a tittle. I called DMV and the lady was hopeless and just hung up on me after being on hold for 45mins.
Cliff Notes
- Need to register a car in Cali
- Don't have title yet as were waiting from honda for it
- DMV phone line and website were no help.
So anyone can help me

No the car was financed through America Honda he paid off the tittle when we paid him. All I have right now is the bill of sale that was certified by a notoriety and he has released liability from DMV. As were waiting for the tittle from Honda.

I know that, but I don't have the title yet. So I was asking if anyone knew how to register the car without the title or begin the process so I won't be hit up with late fee's.

You definitely will not be able to register the car without a title...
As for the late fee... if you have the Bill of Sale and the new title, they should all be dated which means they will know that you acted in a timely matter... so you should not have a late fee.

This is what a friend of mine did.
AHFC will mail the title to the previous owner and he will have to mail it to you after he signs it on line 1 and the odometer statement portion.
Before you receive the title, you can go to the DMV with your bill of sale and current registration to start the transfer of ownership process. There you'll pay the transfer fee, use tax, plus whatever fees you have to pay. When you receive the title, fill out the new owner portion with the same information you did the bill of sale form and go to the DMV again. I think you can drop it off at the mailbox there but you better double check.
Make an online appt with the DMV for 2-3 weeks in the future. Your title should be in your hand and you'll be OK. If not, just go to the DMV with your bill of sale and you're good.

As long as you have the notarized Bill of Sale you should be pretty well protected. I had a deal just like this but had to give it up because I was afraid of a complication like this.
