Refinishing curbed/gouged wheels
Picking up a friend today, and pulled up onto the driveway of his house, which curves slightly to the left. Was backing the car out in neutral with my foot on the brake when i hear a scrape. I stopped immediately and pulled forward with another agonizing scrape, but the damage had been already done - about 1/5 of the outer lip of the rims is curbed. Problem is, their not just scratches but tiny "pieces" of the rims have been gouged.
Aside from shooting myself for my stupidity, and killing the guy who designed a freakin DRIVEWAY with a tall curb on one side, what steps can I take to get this wheel refinished to new.
So far I've looked up the wheel collision center in bath, pa - anybody else know of a good place? It looks like it'll cost around $150 at the wheel collision center - however, they come highly recommended so it may be worth it. I've also looked on ebay, and it looks like one rear wheel for an 06 S2000 will cost around $150 used (but in good shape).
Any input would be great.
cliff notes:
right rear wheel travelling at <1 mph vs. A STUPID curb .... the wheel lost. Any solutions to refinish?

I just knicked my first rim. We've got a service out here that will come out to your house and then fix the wheel in your driveway. i haven't used them yet but have seen many cars they have done. they do a great job.
Get it refurbished, it will look brand new if they guy is competent.
BTW, i hear you ons tupidity, the curb i hit was the same color as the asphalt. didn't even see it.

You too, eh? I came out of my driveway and pulled too close to the curb, which was only a few inches tall, got my first dose of curb rash after only a week of ownership. Since then, I always tilt the mirrors down when parallel parking the S2k..

I think my biggest problem was that stuff like this is preventable. I don't care too much for rock chips and so forth since that comes with the territory, but curb rash...
