READ IF YOU WANT TO MAKE YOUR CAR HARDER TO STEAL!!!

okay......

Lately i have heard about 6 stories where people have gotten there car/parts/audio equipment stolen, this post is to make sure everyone understands how theif really works and how to protect your car. This is also in honor of the people that have gotten S*** stolen from them by people to lazy to work and pay for it themselfs!

In the field of fooling a theif there are many types of things you can do. I like to call them 2 fleids of theft in the auto world:

1. Car theft (thief steals the whole car)
2. Part Theft (thief takes parts including audio, video, engine mods, all that fits on this)

I will discuss both. Now the thing everyone must understand is that ANY car is stealable, even the S500 with electronic keys all you need is steal the key and he have the car, very simple.

The only weapon to us car addicts in the theft fleid is slowing the crook down and making it a pain in the a** for them to steal the car,a intake, or sub they would sell for 60 bucks. So what we have to do is make them think that 60 buxs is not worth it in the pain of stealing it from our cars, i will tell you now in the following sections.

All the following ideas are for both parts of crime, car theft and part theft use your judgement which ones work best and common sense is very important

1) Use security screws, but don't show pics of the heads, dummy. Use them on your wheels too. Also, bolt EVERYTHING down with about 740 bolts! It may be a pain in the ass, but I guarantee the thief will give up after 364 of them! And hide the bolts if you can.

2) Locking your doors is futile. So is shaving the locks. I advise it, but they will break the window if they want in! Instead, park your hatchback as close to your house as you can, so they can't get in the hatch!!! Or park your car so damn close between your mom and stepdads car that you have to move one to get in your car. Make it difficult for them to crawl in the car.

3) Take pics of all your stuff. Take the pics with the dates on the film. Take alot of pics!!! Then, take some more. Insurance these days wants all kinds of proof!! And keep all receipts, even the ones for that Snickers bar you bought last week.

5) When you park, turn your wheels and lock the steering column. I know thieves in the big cities don't even mess around with the interior; they just tow the car. This will make it a little more difficult and time consuming for them to drag the car. And no, this isn't bad for your car. The Club is useless, they will cut through the steeing wheel, but a removable steering wheel from Grant will help!

6) Hide all your alarm wires. Run the wires to the horn inside the firewall and frame of your car. Disarming an alarm is easy, if you can find the wires.

7)Make sure the alarm has a back up battery, and make sure the siren is out of sight from the bottom of the car. . .also Don't fall for the boy who called wolf trick. . .if your alarm keeps going off at night. . .
someone is probably walking by setting it off over and over again until the whole neighbor hood is so annoyed they dont' look out the window anymore.

8).if you have a sub box bolt it down through the inside. If you do it right the thief won't be able to figure uot what is holding it in and give up.

9).Don't go boomin' near where you frequently park your car it makes it stand out more. Start blasting when you leave the place. I mean when you are out in your driveway boomin' your system all day and wonder why it's gone the next morning.

10).you can add more than 1 alarm. It has been done! Works best if you put the alarm brains and horns in different locations from one another (if they find one, they still have others to cut).

11.)if you have the $$$, wire a stobe or blinking light to your alarm. Have this light somewhere where it will be seen when activated (front grill, within headlights, under car)

12.When securing equipment, build trim panels that cover the fasteners. When you use screws, whether they are torx head, philips head, flathead, square machine screw head, hex head, or any screw imagineable, fill the head with epoxy so a tool cannot be inserted to remove it. Do this only after your install is fully complete, for obvious reasons. =)

13.Remember to park in well lit areas for your vehicle's safety and your personal safety. When you approach your vehicle in a parking lot at night, be aware of your surroundings and be sure to look under your vehicle before getting near it. Thieves and carjackers hide under your vehicle and surprise you when you get in.

14.)be selective of who installs your alarm if you dont do it yourself. I have heard of shady shops selling customer info to thieves, including what kind of alarm they have and how to disable it. Hopefully this is not too common, but it undoubtedly happens.Get your alarm installed in a shop far away from you, like 50 miles or so. I don't think they would send someone to get you that far away. Put uncuttable chains on your HU.

15.)Use the bolts from airplanes! they come in all sizes and have ten-sided heads that you can only screw with special tools. Go to a local airfield and ask people there. I know they cost more, but they are of the highest quality and the tools won´t slip so that you make a hole into your sub when you try to bolt it down! Also Mix different nuts with different bolts, this way the theif needs to carry a whole tool box with him to take that one 50 dollar part he wants.

16. A very good was made by Brantly Miller, he competes SQ in IASCA, and he either has or used to have an alarm system that filled his ride up with smoke, making it harder for the burgler to see what he has to do to steal that part he wants.

17. Adding sirens under the hood and bumper are a great way to slow thifts, as well as the siren in the cockpit! now theres an idea!!! Also hook the alarm to your speaker system if you have aftermarket stuff who would want to try stealin` yer stuff with 120+ db sirens deffining them. as well as a strobe light blinding them! haha, that would be funny to watch!!! dontcha think?!?!

18.)Leave a couple of notes in your car that say:

To the mother****er who is stealing my equipment, well to late now you have been caught on camera, and a silent alarm has been tripped.

19.)- steel cables. I do not care who you are, a 1/2' steel cable CANNOT be cut by bolt cutters in any short amount of time. These are good for sub boxes. Smaller cables aer good for headunits

20.)- You have multiple sirens? Fuse every one independantly. If a thief finds one, and grounds out the wire, it will blow wither the alarm or a fuse somewhere.also, Self resetting fuses for car alarm.

All these ideas are meant to SLOW down the crook planing on stealing your car.

THERE IS NO SINGLE, FOOLPROOF SOLUTION

But when you add 100 little things together you make it pretty damn hard to get out with that thing in less than about half an hour.

Listen to this:
Its the same thing as saying "Bulletproof vests are pointless! They could still kill you with a grenade!"

I don't believe in buying those $5000 high end alarms, that's just One thing to slow them down, and we all know there is no one thing that's gonna do it. Buy why NOT spend 50 cents on some screws, $20 on some more sirens, $40 on a few cheap batteries, $10 on some chains, etc. etc.. You'd be foolish not to spend that little amount of money to make it so much harder to steal your system. When you add up all those things up you give them one HELL of a time getting out with your system.

Some people forget the TIME factor. Let's look at a few things:

1. Sirens are going off, theives know every second of a blaring loud siren exposes them even more and they could possibly be cought.

2. Strobe lights - the longer that goes on the more attention it brings.

And beating the sh!t out of your car with a crowbar - if that doesn't call attention I don't know what does.

Let's say you have 5 sirens, all wired separately with batteries that are hard to find. Anyone who doesn't want to get caught would think twice about spending 10 or 20 minutes disconnecting all of those. I think they'd give up after about 2.

Here's everything in a nutshell - if you refuse to take a few days and maybe $100 to make your car/system 100 times harder to break into, you're a fool.

Oh and Insurance is a must, that is the only way to be safe from the pro stealers, but don;t forget that ameturs are the ones that cuz most of the hype about car theft

I hope this helps,

Dantes

why buy auto insurance then?

If they want to steal your car or your car parts, they will. Amatuers get deterred...the pro's will no doubt get your shit if they want it bad enough.

Save the money/hassle and get better insurance coverage.

this post was meant so you don;t have to go through that trouble and hassel of getting new car mailing stuff, talking to people, going to audio stores if you have a system and getting a newer one, getting it installed and all that time consuming activity. Insurance is good, but most companies on;y give you 1,000 dollars in aftermarket insurance and everyone knews that is not enough for some cases.

I have a better idea:

Forget all that stuff and just make sure you pay your insurance premiums on time.

By the way, ANY insurance company will cover ANY aftermarket modifications to your vehicle if you purchase a low-cost specific rider in addition to your regular policy.

Ain;t that some s***, there are two companies i was told by friends that told them no on there system, cuz they didn;t offer insurance on it.

Which brings me to my next point, insurance companies are a**es when it comes to deling with money and your investment

thats some good stuff buddy! thanks for taking the time.

even though I dont think I will be going out anytime soon and implementing all those anti-stealing techniques anytime soon .. there are A LOT of GREAT ideas in there that I can keep in mind and put in one or two at a time (if not for existing stuff, atleast for new mods that I add)

Auto Insurance? FUCK THAT! They want over $4k for a 6-month premium here in miami.
THOSE GUYS ARE THE CROOKS!

what do I do to secure my ride? Hahha Simply park my car next to the neighbors fence where the rotriwler dog sleeps ( I know spelling, shut up).

My friends also got one of those remote beeping keychains accessories for his alarm, pretty damm nice!

I drive a 15 ft cargo truck with THOUSANDS of dollers worth of video games in it sometimes, the FIRST thing they teach us is to ALWAYS park the truck so the rear door is flush up against a wall so no one can get in/out the back door.

I think protecting anything you own boils down to common sense of where/how you park your ride. I sometimes leave my fucking car "Unlocaked" Because for 5 years I was driving around in a ride that my alarm had "AUTOmatic" locks that locked the car after 30 secs. This ride does not, SO I forget sometimes. Sucks. Maybe I'll work on a timed relay to lock our doors.

And last, Own a nice firearm and get a NRA sticker for your window along with a confederate flag next to it

Dantes, one addition to your list. How about running some electric current throught the door handles, steering wheel or seat. It would give the thieves a nice surprise.

Great post - thanks. Very true - I used to install a few alarms outta college. Two cheap, low tech additions that I still feel worthwhile:

1. Hood lock.

2. Kill switch. You'd be amazed with a little creative placement how many punks miss that one! Still damned effective after all these years

I always thought that some surplus Megawatt power Klystron tubes mounted inside the interior of the car would be great for would-be thieves. Upon steeling the car, the doors should be treated with an integrated locking system to make sure the miscreant(s) can’t escape.

An announcement of "You are about to be baked to perfection is then uttered via the car's speakers. (You can be compassionate and give them 1 minute to exit the car before you bake them to perfection with microwave radiation.)

In 5- to 10-minutes the thieves will be baked to perfection. If you're a cannibal, you can even eat them.

Turn your car into a microwave oven!!!

you could also stick out nails where your amp and sub is. or put razors. you just need to remember that they're there.

the majority of that stuff isn't gonna do any good, most of it will either just slow him down a little bit or frustrate him so much he starts breaking shit.

my car got nothing to really steal.. i got 4 diff types of locks on my wheels tho.. so you have to switch back and forth between 4 locks to get each tire off.

if i was a theif, and someone bolted down whatever with a million bolts, i would probably be so aggravated and pissed that i would run around there car with a key 10 times. whats the point? pissing off a theif is a BAD idea, bc he obv has no respect for ur car. the first thing hes gonna take his anger out on is the car, or possibly ur home.

like said before, just get better insurance

And don't forget to sleep with a S & W in the nightstand. If the thief is foolish enough to stick around and try longer then you've got him.

Dantes

This is all great, but what if they pull the car onto a flat bed and cut the battery?

Tilt sensors with a backup battery.

And when they get fed up with all the security features, they take a match and burn your car to a crisp.

those are some good ideas, but they can easily tow the car. one positive is that we have the chip keys, which making stealing the whole car extremely difficult. i am going to be adding a shock sensor to my factory alarm soon. my rear window was smashed and the alarm didnt trigger. everything else will trigger the alarm (door, hood, trunk).
