Legendary Mini modifier Radford is back with the launch of Harold Radford Coachbuilders (London) Ltd.

Though the original company founder Harold Radford passed away in 1990, the new firm is keeping his philosophy alive by turning its attention to the new generation of BMW-built Minis.

Rather than returning to the walnut dashboards and leather trim of the '60s Radford Mini de Ville - an example of which was owned by every member of the Beatles - the new Radford Minis will have a contemporary feel, tailored to individual customers' tastes.

Radford has built an example of the kind of cars it is aiming to produce, fitted with an aggressive bodykit including mesh grille, large front foglights - like the original Mini de Ville - and 18in Konig alloy wheels. Under the bonnet the Cooper S supercharged engine has been tuned to produce 265bhp, while inside the cabin has been retrimmed with red/black Alcantara seats and deep-pile carpets. An example like this would set a customer back a cool £30,000.
