Ram srt-10

what are your thoughts? I've been eyeing one for a toy for a long time now. Drove one a while back and loved it. 505HP. it only gets about 13-16mpg, but i would'nt be drivin it everyday.

How much are they nowadays? How about an S2K for a "toy" that way you get convertible top for summer, economical engine and fun all at once?

No i don't really need a pickup(srt-10 is not really meant for towing etc.). S2K's are cool, but besides my acura, and Jetta, TC, i've only ever owned V8's. I'm an american muscle guy at heart. They just don't make a reliable car.

I've found 04's for 17s-18s all the way to 30k, 05 low 20s, 06s low 20s-low 30s...depends on miles ETC.

I'd rather have a diesel in a pick-up.

And that's about it. Their cool for what they are-a very fast pick-up that can't tow (regular cab) or can't tow much (double cab).

For a fun vehicle, I would look elsewhere as there are better cars that fit the bill.

I love them as well and thought about one... but after thinking, I came to the conclusion that they really wouldn't make a fun car. I'd rather have a drop-top or something that handles well and is actually fun. Not just powerful in a straight line.

Plus, you're lucky if you see 16mpg. Likely more around 9-10mpg.

Love the CTS-V's, the GTO's not a huge fan, but still like not a bad choice.

I'd much rather drive around a compact pick-up with a small block if I was looking for something that wasn't strictly for towing.

Something like Greenie is doing FTW.

I would go with the Z-it has great reliability, great aftermarket, and is just an overall great car for relatively cheap. To sum it up, it's great

I wouldn't do it. If it was my third or forth car, basically a toy, maybe. Like said, a cheap way to get a viper engine, but it isn't a viper. It'll be good in a straight line and that's it, assuming you've got great tires.

My boss, bought a Ram Rumble Bee(hemi) $12k. However, it's his 5th car, just for summers, for his wife. His first cars, a Maxima, Murano, CTS, and a Z3. See a trend?

A year ago, I'd never buy a GTO, but after learning its roots, I'd consider it. I'd also consider a Z06 and a CTS-v. However these I put here, as V8 recommendations. I'd really get an M3, now assuming the E90 or E92 isn't within reach, you're looking at an I6, but I doubt you'd much care that it wasn't a V8, once you got driving one. Without a doubt, that's what I'd get even though I'd love a Mercedes, the M3, just is uncompromising joy. Than again the CTS-v is tempting, even for me(I hate Cadillac).

on the C5 Z06

Once I get another secure job I'm hoping to pick one up. I'd only get an SRT-10 Ram if I needed a truck and only a truck, AND I wanted to have some fun in it. But even then its only available in a single cab (IIRC) so that kinds kills it

you can also check out a TBSS, not as great as an SRT engine but the ls engines are great and have an amazing after market. plus the interior on a gm> chrysler. though thats not saying much whatsoever

If you're an american muscle guy, the C5 ZO6 seems a lot more "fun" to me than 5500 lb Ram pickup with a Viper engine. It's a neat looking car with a set of polished Fiske's.

The CTS-V is a sedan and an 03-05 M3 might be more trouble than you want.

Now that everyone has weighed in with their thoughts, including the obligatory suggestion to get an S2000 instead ( only on acurazine!), I say you should get the truck out of your 3 choices. A Z06 would be sweet of course, but they have essentially zero utility and there's a lotta Corvettes out there. Check insurance quotes too, 'vettes have an astronomically high death rate. M3 servicing and repair costs could take the shine off that diamond in a hurry.

With the truck, it can double for a light-duty hauler, its really unique with that engine-trans combo, its smoking fast, and you already drove one and loved it.

So.....all set with your new Ram SRT-10 purchase then?
