RACED My Friends 98 auto m3!!!
My friend finally had the called me today to race our cars and test it out. Wow the m3 really drives nice and I totally love the leather inside. And the 225/45/17 tires made his rims look so much bigger than mine. After drooling at his car we decided to do some 0-100 runs. (since our cars seem to die starting at 4th gear.)hehe
And of course he doesn't have to know that .
Well the first couple runs we both decided to run w/ traction on and VSA on for me.
We almost came even when trac/vsa on. So we then decided to run w/out them on. He had a better launch from start but as soon as I hit 5000 in 1st I was pulling like crazy. Seeing his jaw drop and pounding on his steering wheel was kinda funny. By the time I hit 6000 at 2nd gear (around 50mph) I was passing him. (thanks to the additional 32hp from the headers) and by 100 I totaly blew his doors off by at least what seem to be 1 1/2 car length. We ran some more runs and most of them he had a better launch due to rwd but in the end HAHAH the S came front.

nova why do i feel like if your car was STOCK it would be faster than my stock cl-s.
Sometimes I get the feeling I got the slow one, that had something wrong with it. Even though I still kill a lot of fast cars

I think it is normal for you to beat the M3, since it is a auto. A auto M3 runs 6.4 seconds 0 - 60. Since you got headers...etc, you can smoke him without any doubt. **Tell your friend to trade in his M3 for a CL-S or TL-S**

I don't think he was taking you off the line due to rwd because fwd is more efficient. I'll bet he has more low end torque and his car is lighter.
Congrats on beating him!!

Wow, that's all I can say. You have a fast CLS. The headers are sounding good. I had an M3 pull my 540i. I'm sure it was stick and there must be some wide variation in the performance of M3s.

I'd be curious to see how the CL-S holds up in 5 weeks when the 2001 M3 rolls off the line. The new M3 with an additional 100 horsepower and high-reving to 80000 rpms sounds like the CL may be in trouble.

lol, you're kidding right?
No need to get uptight about one race between an auto CLS vs a auto M3.
Welcome to the forum!
Peace.

Why is a beamer guy telling us to be wary in 5 weeks when the new M3 comes out? I think there is a serious difference not only in type of car but cost. I guess you M3 boys should be weary when the 02' ferrari comes out. LOL
