holy.... gives you an idea of how fast the Enzo is.... damn. especially towards the middle-end of the video.... damn. just damn. but the NSX hangs with it pretty well in the turns.
also look at the chain hanging from the rear-view mirror... gives you an idea of the g's...

Yes, the NSX appears to be modded. Also the Enzo driver doesnt seem to know how to drive very well
I`d love to see the driver of the NSX in the Enzo.

agreed on all counts... the NSX is definitely not stock, and as is usually the case, the owners of the crazy cars aren't going all out... probably half out of lack of driver skill and half out of anxiousness of wrecking and/or breaking something.

Thanks for watching!
Hi to all - I just saw in my website statistics that some of you watched my site and therefor I visited your forum. I'm pretty glad that you like the site and movie.
Regarding the car: It is a '98 cp. NSX (not R of course because there are no LHD R models AFAIK) - more about the mods is here .
Regarding the special situation at that day in Hockenheim: The car was not in it's best form. I had some serious overheating issues (described in the text) which now seems to be resolved. And also now I know after some dyno days and a lot of work by my techie that the engine had not it's expected power because of a failure in the Vtec system. At that day I only had about 270 PS - at the latest dyno run last week I had 306 (should be around 310 under real life conditions at the track with sufficient fresh air).
So the next time I will encounter an Enzo the difference on the straights would be a little less dramatic I guess. Of course the performance in the corner will only be about equal when I run on race slicks while the Enzo is on street legal tires (which it was in the movie).
BTW: I doubt that Gan San (the old japanese) would be significantly faster at Hockenheim GP with my car - my best laptime from last year was under 2 minutes (without the power lack I had this year) which is hard to beat because I know the track quite well after more than 100 laps. Okay - he may find another 2 seconds or so after a while

Nice video. I do wish the camera was in that white 911 that appears towards the end. That seemed to be pulling some serious lap times.

Nice video. Obviously the enzo is going to pull on the NSX in the straights since its got more twice as many cylinders and twice the horsepower. Was surprised how well it handled compared to the ENZO.

And my stripped track rat is about 140 kilogramms lighter than the Enzo (1230 kg w/o driver with full tank vs. 1370 kg). Too bad that the driver of the NSX was much heavier than the driver of the Enzo!

Dont forget the NSX had slicks (and probably a better driver).

Thanks for all your acknowledgement. I have no plans to go the F/I way because I don't want to stress the engine too much (it already has about 130,000 kilometers, including over 15,000 on different tracks). My philosophy is to have a light car with good handling and controllable power but without supercar maintainance costs.
If someone is interested: I have a longer video from the Hockenheim day (90.8 MB) where I edited parts of different stints. This vid had been hosted by a member of NSXPrime.com (where I usualy post) but was removed. My webspace isn't big enough to maintain all the vids (you may have seen there are also other ones from the Nuerburgring GP track) but if a member here has some free space and bandwidth I could upload it.
Just mail your ftp data to wm(at)fastvoice.de if you're willing to host that QT video (edited with iMovie HD and converted to a reasonable mp3 file size).

yeah.. definitely don't want aftermarket FI for race applications - esp on a car like the NSX, which is hyper-tuned as is. Same goes for the S2000, BMW S54, and other high-output NA vehicles... these cars are already wringing out the limits of their engines, adding FI may result in short-term satisfaction but in terms of longevity, you're asking for trouble.

Short Video removed
Thanks Astroboy - little info: Due to the overwhelming response from members of this site and some others I already exceeded the free traffic volume this month for my site. Therefor I removed the short "Enzo-video" but you can still access the long Hockenheim movie hosted by srika.
I already tried to contact my provider to get more webspace and traffic volume but have no answer yet.

website moved but same URL
Another update: Due to the overwhelming response of a lot of new visitors to this site that exceeded my free traffic volume and the lack of webspace I had to take quick action and moved the whole site to a larger server space. I apologize for the downtime that occured during moving the pages and files.
Now everything should work out fine again and all previous movies (some of them were removed due to the lack of webspace) are also back again.
