Seems a more reasonable comparison than a G37 to the TSX, A4, and CC. Afterall, it's two RWD coupes with just over 300hp. And for anyone who doesn't click the link, there were two drivers; one picked the G37, the other picked the Genesis. It was a good read.

I read it. Honestly I liked the Hyundai better for a whopping $15k less. Of course over $5000 of that difference is options I wouldn't even bother with on the G37, but it's still a huge fucking difference for not that much more car.

I would hope the G37 was better considering the cost differential but that's not really my point.
Why test the top-line Track Genesis against the Journey? Isn't the Journey the luxury-oriented trim level?

You're right, the Journey is the posh version. It doesn't make much sense to compare those two. Guess I missed the title on the article, just read the title here, which indicated it was the Sport.

I finally saw a Gen Coupe in person the other day when I picked my co-worker up from the Hyundai dealership. It was a dark gray 3.8 Track. I was impressed. It appeared larger in person that it looks in pictures and the front wasn't as distracting in person. I thought it actually had a very upscale look to it.

There was no 6mt Sport in the press pool to test, but the Journey had the sport package which is basically the same thing minus the 6mt.

I think the Gen-coupe is a fantastic car and an incredible bargain, but the G is just much more refined and upscale (as it should be). Personally, I care alot about interior design and quality as well as luxury equipment (HID, sat-nav, internal HD, heated seats, dimming mirrors, 10+ speaker sound systems, etc) and in this area there is no contest between the cars. The Hyundai is a great little sports car but the G37 is a luxury GT. Big difference.....

There's also a comparo between the Camaro V6 and the Genesis V6 (R&T or MT), and Genesis also lost that one. I wonder if anyone is going to compare the Camaro and the G37...lol.

I read the issue and its a pretty stupid comparison. The Genesis lost by 1 point and that's mostly due to C&D giving Camaro a shitload of points in the "gotta have it" category. Gensis pretty much won all the other categories.

What Would Don Draper Do?
yea i think i remember that.
ever since he got his G, he's had to justify his reasoning and rationale for purchasing it.
seriously. if it takes an article or review to make you feel good about your car again.

Whatever. He was ready to dryhump the GTR based on the Senna comparo with the 911 turbo. Of course, that was before the 20K blown tranny issue
To each his own, I would rather be out driving my 911 then reading some car magazine article about it and I certainly don't need a comparison test to justify my ownership.

I don't think you're understanding what I was saying. I always feel good about seeing one of my cars in magazines, especially when they've been outta the press for a while. Its something I've always done. I remember when I got my 4th gen Prelude a few years ago, I bought a back issue of a '93 MT just to read an original road test of the VTEC. Guess its just me....

Also keep in mind that Nissan has had plenty of time to tweak the G (remember, the G35 for the first few years had an interior not much better than the Gen and it was priced thousands higher) - while Hyundai has yet to even do a mid-cycle refresh.
Taking price into consideration, 2 of the 3 R&T's writers picked the Genesis (as did Edmunds and Popular Mechanics)
MT did a comparo w/ the V6 Camaro and the they picked the Gen (tho, earlier, MT picked the Mustang GT over the Gen and the 370Z; picking the GT over the 370Z is a bit silly imo).
