Quick Oil Question

My friend has a 1992 Honda Accord w/220k miles and it's been running synthetic for the last 130k miles. I believe the guy she got the car from used Mobil 1. She knows nothing about cars but it's got an oil leak and a guy she knows added regular oil to the synthetic oil to top it off. To me, this doesn't seem like a good idea and this car needs to take care of her for a long time.

Can someone tell me if this is safe or should she get the oil changed immediately back to pure synthetic? I can't seem to find a right or wrong answer to this question via Google. A lot of the stuff I've read says it "might" be ok but not advised and I've read it depends on brands too.

What do you guys think or know about this?

Thanks!

Synthetic oil is fully compatible with regular oil. This isn't the 60s. After all, why do they make synthetic blends?

I was always told, you can go from Synthetic to regular without a problem, but it is recommended that you don't go the other way. However, I had to use my old Maxima a couple times and it had an oil leak. I topped it off with regular that I had at home at the time and it was fine.

I would think she would be OK.

Did any techs respond? You are OK on this but there are people at auto repair shops (even Honda has techs that know something) that you can talk to on such things......try to find one that is good, Reasonable and you can trust...they along with this site will help greatly...good luck...
