Just bought the unit. I used to have the regular one(none X50) untill it was stolen from my car. My question is, how does one turn on POP mode, or is it turned on already, when in auto sensitivity mode?

there should be a quick guid that came with it. there is a way to get into the menu but i can not remember and you can turn on what you want, and change the display. if yours is not turned on then you can by accessing the menu.

Love that radar detector. Saved me a bunch of times. If u press and hold the top 2 buttons it will bring up the program menu, pressing the left button only after this will get you through the menus and one of them should be the POP. It comes disabled from factory - one wonders why its even there as a feature to begin with if its disabled. But I digest, press the right one to enable/disable it depending on what u find. Good luck.

I remember reading the POP mode of tagging people was not usable in court in many states because it does not follow the required calibration procedure. I do know a cop is trained to read your speed without an additional detection device and the latter is only used to back up their visual assessment. I'm sure one of the Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) on this board could confirm this.

ftr, I enabled it on my 8500 x50. I changed the display too to show multiple bogies and multiple frequencies. My wife called me excited one afternoon saying she had a LEO in the lane next to her with K, she muted the detector, and then a different LEO came the other way with Ka and the detector started chirping for the second bogey and displayed both.

^I have mine setup that way too. Its pretty awesome. Has helped me notice a 'bogey' lol hiding behind those flashing signs on the road which normally give off the K band. Sneaky lil guy. The 'digest' part was for the Ali G fans on AZ. He said that in one of his episodes meaning digress and I couldn't stop laughing. Anywho I'll stop saying that for fear of AZiners correcting my spelling.

my bad, I obviously don't watch the show.

Yeah, near those 'your speed is' signs are where some Georgia cops love to hang out. I almost always have one tag me when I drive to ATL.

You know, oddly enough, about a week before my non X50 escort was stolen, a cop pulled me over and gave me a ticket. I opted to fight it in court because my detector didn't go off. After it got stollen, and I got the X50, and just found out about POP. Now, I am convinced that he got me with POP. Now do you guys think he can still nail me in court by saying that he could visually tell I was exceeding the speed limit?

Did you have to mess with the programming to show multiple bogies, and multiple frequencies, or does it come standard on auto sensitivity mode?

yeah, I would have been busted dozens of times, if I didn't just slow down on all K, and Ka's, as a rule!. I encountered the above scinareo a lot around here. Sneaky bastards!

^Really? I've never seen that in the menus in mine. What software revision is it?
