Question for all the Euro 6mt drivers

I have been driving stick for the past 12 years everyday. So i know it is not that i am losing my ability to drive stick.

Recently i have noticed that i am having difficulty engaging 1st gear smoothly in my 335. It is hard to explain, but when i left go the clutch in first gear, the car/clutch feels jerky/skipping. Feels like i am not giving enough gas and i am dragging the clutch. I don't know if it is a combination of drive by wire + Typical German gas pedal feel.

It is almost like the engagement point is too low and first 1/5 gas pedal is non responsive . The funny thing is i did not notice anything wrong in the first 6 months of ownership.

I only noticed this when the car is warmed up since the RPM is typical higher when it is cold so it s never a problem.

All my stick cars were all Japanese and i had never experienced this. Any one else experience this with German cars before?

I also had this problem when I first drove my friend's 335, and then again recently when I drove my other friend's 135. Both my friends said it took some time to get used to it (they both went to BMW after only owning Japanese). I think Euro clutches are too soft.

Probably. I did some research, apparently Clutch Chatter is pretty common in BMW.

Are you talking about that annoying clutch delay valve in bimmers?

My friend had that in his 2002 540i 6spd...hated it. There was a company that modified them so they felt like a normal clutch again.

Um.. i don't think so.

All my s2k had CDV. You can only feel it when you shift aggressively like racing someone.
CDV feels like the clutch is slipping when you shift to prevent you from damaging stuff and you cannot chirp tires.
It won't affect 1st gear engagement from standing still.

Probably hot spots on the flywheel according to some people.

I think it is time for a new clutch and flywheel for you before you get stranded.

I currently have an E92 335i and an B8 S4, both with 6MT. I don't have the problem you described. I've had an B7 A4 with 6MT prior to both of my current cars, and didn't have the problem either.
