Cleaned the headlights. Hooked up vacuum line. Boost controller came today but I'm going to wait until I get the exhaust all squared away to install.

 

Thanks for the updates and wow, outside looks relatively new, inside is straight old school.

 

I love this thread for various reasons.

I vote to drive it as is and focus all money time and effort on a manual transmission swap.

 

I really thought about swapping the transmission when I first picked up the car. I'm regretting not starting this project earlier as the car more or less sat for a couple of years. I picked it up in 2009 and basically just started at it but never got enough motivation (and had zero money - just graduated from law school and was looking for a job at pretty much the worst possible time for a lawyer). Now I think I'm keeping it an auto (primarily because the g/f can't drive a stick and the TL is manual).

I suppose one day if I come across a reasonably priced manual transmission I'll consider it.

No substantial updates. I ordered the wrong center caps (chrome instead of normal) so wheels still look a little funky. Exhaust was back ordered 5 weeks. It was pretty nice out today and no fog at the beach so took a little spin.

 

Subscribed. Always loved Supras. Excited to see the direction you take with it. It's a tough decision, part of my brain would be feeding for an 800hp monster but the other half would definitely do everything I can to keep it stock and as OEM as possible. Best of luck with your decision.

 

My vote is to keep the wheels. I always found them to be super generic looking but they just fit the lines of the car so well. I'd bet a good buffing and they'd be just about done.

And they don't look horrible without the caps, IMO.

 

I'm planning on keeping the OEM ones. I agree about the looks with the body. Im not a fan of the aftermarket ones. It's been difficult to locate the OEM wheels that are all cleaned up and have center caps without paying a ton of money. I'll put some serious effort into cleaning them and see how it turns out.

Supra is one of those cars that turns more heads with good condition OEM looks than a fixed up one

at least for me... and NSX is one of them too.
